I am really amazed by how many people in the Giantbomb community are completely against micro-transactions. I know it is a skewed group, but I guess I just didn't expect so many people to be against micro-transactions in any form at all.

@lego_my_eggo: I am not sure about the pre-order cars. It looks like the original Playstation.blog post, showed that you could purchase 1 million credits and in the picture above you can see that all of the cars are pretty standard fare.

I enjoyed GT5, but there were so many disappointments after playing both Forza 2 and Forza 3 that when you compare the games you can really see that in menu usability and online options Forza really wins overall. I am not sure if I will wait for GT7 or go ahead and buy GT6. But, like you, I'm gonna wait and see. Hell! I didn't buy GT5 until Spec II came out in Japan.

As long it is optional I don't see any problem with it. IT is only problematic if Cars are behind this DLC wall not that ou can make it more easier to get these cars through buying virtual credits.

That is actually what they are doing here. Those credits that will be spent on the cars will be bought from Sony. You will be buying 1 million credits from them for $10 or $20. I'm not sure how much exactly because that information has not been announced.

Well im ready for microtransactions but i wont spending it on ps3. I hope driveclub can satisfy my need.

Yeah, I'm not sure how many people are looking to spend serious money on, what now is, last generation hardware and software. I guess this is a great test bed for Sony to see if this kind of stuff might work in DriveClub or other games.

A guy in another topic suggested Clean Asia! which is by Cactus. I guess it shares some stylistic similarities, but it's a bullet hell game. I've never played it, so I can't vouch for it's quality.

Thanks for all the tips. I'm sick of getting these C+'s.

I don't know any for sure, but this game was done by a guy named cactus and he puts out a ridiculous amount of games.

Wouldn't region be recommended as a thing to post as well? Playing outside own region ruins the game for everybody.

I wouldn't say it 'ruins' the game. When I was living in Japan, I never had too much trouble playing on American servers.

@salad10203: Huh? So, you aren't alright with a production done about someone's religious beliefs, but you will wait for "The Book of Islam." Are you trying to say that Islam isn't a religion?

If that isn't what you meant, then your sarcasm doesn't translate very well to the internet.

@mariachimacabre: It was probably sold out. When I got tickets, two months in advance, seating was looking sketchy.

@pandabear:

I think Sony and Microsoft are looking at those numbers and they do see that over 70% are online. I am sure that most of their decisions are being made for that audience.

If they were ready to completely cut them off, then this generation would be a lot different; we wouldn't have physical media. I think as an overall trend the big two are moving towards 'always online.' I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't the last generation with physical media.

I am thinking outside of my little corner of the world, but I think Sony is too because they are seeing that they have 78 million people who are going to be paying them $50 a year starting next year, or whatever that translates to in other regions. Those 20 million that are buying their consoles and are not paying that $50 a year are a nice little buffer for their overall sales figures, but they aren't making any big monetary decisions based on those people.

  • You aren't going to see Sony or Microsoft sending updates to those rural users.
  • You are going to see a lot more day one patches for games that won't work without the patch.
  • The services that Microsoft and Sony have been courting are all online. Everybody in the industry sees that Sony and Microsoft are not only concerned with games, but services like Netflix in the US and cable companies around the world.
  • Also, one of the biggest additions this generation is being able to stream your games online via services such as twitch.tv.
  • I don't think any of the companies are trying to court rural/unconnected users. They are appeasing them, but not courting them.
