Weird, but still one of the few games I'm interested in that's coming out this year.

Question! I've never figured out how to properly block/counter Abel's Change of Direction -- I never can tell whether or not to block low or high. I'm currently using Chun-li and feel like I'm giving away free damage with my ignorance. Any tips?

I'm in no way what you would call 'good' at Street Fighter, but back with original Street Fighter IV I made a similar transition. When I got my stick I almost immediately regretted it. I could no longer perform pretty basic combos that I used to be able to do with ease on a pad. I also found that I'd be flustered more so than usual in live fights, panicking when pressured.

Advice that I can offer is to not get discouraged. Getting used to the stick was like being introduced to the game all over again. Spending a lot of time in training mode or even just playing against the computer, in retrospect, would've done me a lot of good. There's nothing more infuriating than losing to someone because you are failing to execute -- it's less bad when it's just against the AI. Looking at and getting comfortable with different ways of holding the stick is also extremely helpful, like CaptainFish suggested. Finding out what hold allows you to comfortably perform your characters moves should make it easier to do combos that you may have had difficulty doing before.

Additionally, go through the Trial Challenges again. Those helped me realize exactly which combos I had a tougher time doing, giving me a clear indicator of what to work on in Training mode (crouching FP into EX Tatsu was extremely difficult for me -- something I didn't expect). Other than that just keep practicing and be patient, it's going to take some time to fully adjust.

I'm going to make an honest attempt to not ramble on for very long here. You can skip the paragraph below which details my obligatory need to give a bunch of people, who I don't know, my back-story.

Here goes....
First and foremost, I'm not ashamed to admit that I basically have no friends. Now don't get me wrong, I used to have friends, I just stopped talking to them after high school. The couple of friends that I do still have, I rarely speak to or spend any time with; which is fine, but lately I've been realizing the greatest tragedy of no longer having any friends: competitive multiplayer. Back in the day I played a lot of Counter-Strike, down to the point where I was scrimming regularly and playing everyday. It is only now that I realize the true reason I played Counter-Strike so much, and that is because I had friends that were into it (albeit slightly less than me). It was my constant desire to be better than them that helped fuel the extra enjoyment I got out of the game (that I am now lacking). I still constantly try to get into popular multiplayer games such as: Modern Warfare, Halo 3, Team Fortress, and Left 4 Dead, but I always stop playing shortly after the game's release.

There's more, but let's just get on with it...
My primary goal is to get friends that I can then play games online with. I realize people are making friends online and are then playing games with these said cohorts. My problem is, I have absolutely no idea how that actually happens or how to initiate such an endeavor. I'd be happy to know of any insight the community can provide as to how you've obtained friends online in the past. Additionally, if you have any ideas as to where one might go to meet, like minded, "gamers" with the intent in becoming "actual" friends, I would love to hear them.

*Obviously I understand online friends are not going to be as great as "actual" friends, but bare with me here ... I'm anti-social.
