Unnecessary move by Marquez. This was a penalty even if Robben oversold it like he usually does. Mexico shouldn't have given up so much space in the second half but it's still an unfortunate way to go.

Completely agree.

@gorillamopena: 3 times he's done this. 3 TIMES! You couldn't make this stuff up. Absolutely incredible. How many more second chances does this guy deserve? Incredibly talented but also a colossal idiot.

I was desperate for Rooney to score after the way the media were preparing him as a scapegoat. Really glad he's grabbed that goal.

As 0-0 s go, this has been a pretty entertaining one - though maybe a comparison with the Iran-Nigeria match makes anything look good. Fair play to Ochoa - a quality display.

@leebmx: I love how the presenter took a sharp inhale of breath and wagged his finger. They also made Dunphy do a grovelling apology while looking down the camera just before the second half kicked off. All very enjoyable!

Brazil continue to be disappointing - I wonder if it's the expectation? Neymar aside they certainly aren't playing like favourites.

A highlight from today's World Cup though: Irish national broadcaster having a bit of a brain melt. Notoriously outspoken Eamon Dunphy didn't realise he was live on air and casually swore on live TV twice. His reaction was hilarious. Equally enjoyable was World Cup runner-up Didi Hamman's sly hiding of his phone when he realised they weren't on an ad break anymore.

Is this going to be the first draw of the cup?

I think it's going be the first genuinely poor match too (unless something special happens in the final 15).

Pepe proving what everyone's known for a long time: he's a massive liability.
