Wild how the crew weren't jumping for joy at the tone-deaf marketing event by the company currently embroiled in an enormous, pervasive sexual abuse scandal. Better cancel my sub.
Thanks, Scott, for a write-up that captured what made Disco Elysium feel special to me as a Very Sad Communist. Obviously the game design elements of it deserve to be dissected endlessly too, but I've felt utterly detached from conversations about the game that deal mostly in terms of mechanics and technical innovation.
Enjoyed the Disco Elysium discussion. Everyone made their points pretty well and shoutouts to @benpack for his eloquent appraisal of the game's many qualities. I will say, though, that Brad is the first person I've heard say anything negative about the game's art and should probably be subjected to a struggle session.
Honestly if GB ditched the GOTY pods and just dedicated their end-of-year time to producing a glut of Hitsmas-style content and cross-coast pods... I'd be fine with that.
Not that I don't enjoy GOTY. GOTY's cool, but if it's one or the other, well...
