Just started the Resident Evil 1 remake after beating Code Veronica and…I think I hate it? The controls are not ideal - I’m constantly fighting what direction I need to move, and the classic controls seem extra tank-y.
I'd like to see the forums and community discussions incorporated into the content, a la 1UP Yours. I see value in having the site as a defined location to engage with the core audience, with some longer form discussion that isn't a cesspool social media site and isn't the grab bag email stuff.
I saw someone earlier in the thread mention that their attention is divided among multiple sources, which has ended up watering down their engagement with any of them. The Giant Bomb brand is still strong and I think it can hold sway where others are trying to get in, but I won't pretend I know the business motivations behind the choices that have been made. Jeff and crew are going to do what is best for the site and to keep the lights on, but I'm not in love with the current state of games and game coverage precisely because the economic factors driving decisions aren't great.
I just bought a PS3 fat because I love the look. Hell of a time finding a DualShock and no luck with an original SixAxis. If anyone wants to sell for a fair price…

You guys are great. Went to a couple local shops yesterday and picked up a PS3 fat, 160 GB model. I know this is objectively the wrong choice because of failure rates, but it’s also the ONLY choice for me. Unfortunately the DS3 I got alongside it has issues so now I’m hunting for a good, official one.
@heelbill: I think the backwards compatibility stuff Xbox has been doing has me feeling positive about the 360/PS3 generation; tastes vary but it’s the oldest I can go back to and still enjoy the games.
I've got an itch for purchasing a PlayStation 3 - never had one, bunch of games I would like to play in their native environment, and emulation isn't improved enough to be viable. That, and I really just want to suffer through playing games with a DualShock 3.
What sites can you recommend to purchase through that aren't Ebay? I'm thinking of more local stores or retro game businesses that ship stuff out.
