Sounds like a bad idea honestly. Smaller developers will be getting the shaft because they'll be included in a flood of titles.

It's primarily an adventure / investigation game.  So much so, that while it is set in an open world, you can have your partner drive you immediately to the crime scene / suspect's house / etc and not bother with any of the driving around stuff. You've got a notebook in-game, you're forced to pay attention, you ask suspects questions and try to determine their truthfulness based on previous evidence and conversations.

While it will have gun and driving elements, that is not the primary focus.  The game was built for the PS3, and originally was an exclusive. The fact that it's coming to the 360 at all, even on three discs, is good in its own right. Also, it was NOT DEVELOPED BY ROCKSTAR. This is a game created by Team Bondi with oversight by Rockstar Games. They're partners. Rockstar came into the project later on, and guess what? Despite barring resemblance to the GTA4 engine, L.A. Noire doesn't use it.

Let me say this again: L.A. Noire is an adventure game

You make my hyped. Curse you. If you had to put L.A. Noire on a scale between Phoenix Wright and GTA, where would it be? "
This may make me look terrible, but I've never played a Phoenix Wright game.

I guess i know, more or less, what this game is about. I'm not interested in that period of time nor do i want to take part in any investigation. I am, however kind of curious if the hype is warranted. "
You referenced RDR, GTA, and Saint's Row. Aside from being open world, LA Noire is primarily an investigation heavy adventure game. Less action, more talking. The title is being developed by Team Bondi under Rockstar's tutelage. Not even the same game engine.

Yep. Most people have no idea what this game is about.

I'm wondering how many people just assume L.A. Noire is just a 1940's GTA or Red Dead. It isn't. This is an adventure game set in an open world. Heavy focus on investigation and interrogation. Think of it as what Telltale is doing, but finally updated to the current day instead of being stuck in the mud.
