Just finished it as someone who has barely played any Final Fantasy and never touched FF7. I enjoyed myself quite a bit but story wise, I really preferred the more grounded Avalanche vs. Shinra political story to the ridiculous JRPG bullshit that happens in the back half. I had no idea what was happening at all for the last hour of the game and I had heard people mention that this remake isn't the full game but man, it really isn't the full game. I was pretty shocked when it ended, feels like they probably should have thrown a "part 1" on this somewhere because I could see myself being pretty upset if I thought this was the whole game.
Still, had a really good time with the game though. I'm still deciding if I want to go back and clean up the stuff I missed but the combat was a ton of fun and it gave off some serious Yakuza feelings during the non-combat parts, which is always a good thing.
Since it seems like a lot of people are canceling their WWE Network subscription, this seems like a good opportunity to plug a wrestling streaming service worth your money.
If you're a fan of independent wrestling at all, I can't recommend IWTV enough. They've got live shows (not currently obviously) and an incredible backlog of wrestling from CZW to Chikara to IWA MS and they're constantly adding new stuff. They just started an unfortunately poorly timed deal with GCW and will be streaming all their shows as well once things get back to normal.
Finished watching the Benoit Viceland documentary, which is obviously extremely heavy and tough to watch (though still mostly very good) but one of the most unexpected reminders from it was just how cool Nancy was. The old photos and footage they show with Kevin Sullivan and in ECW are amazing. They talk about it a bit in the documentary itself but it's such a shame that her legacy got wiped out with Chris.
With Stardom in the news recently, I want to keep that going and point out that they uploaded their 2019 match of the year winner to their YouTube channel today. It's from a run of outstanding Wonder of Stardom (essentially their IC title) title defenses by Arisa Hoshiki last summer, this one against her stablemate and rival Tam Nakano. Arisa unfortunately was pulled from No People Gate last weekend because of injury so first time viewers missed out on seeing, in my opinion, the best wrestler on the roster so I very much recommend checking out if you wanna see what a typical high stakes title defense looks like in Stardom, something that was missing from No People Gate.
Thought No People Gate was a great show given the circumstances. Tag titles match and main event were particularly standout. Sucked that Arisa was pulled from the show, she's my favorite on the roster so wish more people got to see her, hope she's okay. Full show is up on YouTube, watch it.
@redwing42: This will actually be Stardom’s first live show. They don’t do live shows on Stardom World, they’re uploaded after the fact and those have no commentary at all but they announced that tonight’s show will have Japanese commentary. All the pre-match and in ring promos on Stardom World have full English subtitles though.
PSA that Stardom will be doing a live empty arena show from Korakuen Hall tonight that will stream live and for free on YouTube at the very US friendly time of 9:30 PM EST. It'll be an atypical show for sure but if you've ever wanted to check out Stardom, this is a great opportunity.
Don't forget that this weekend, Stardom "No People Gate" will be LIVE and FREE on Youtube! March 8, 11:30 AM (JST) March 7, 9:30 PM (Eastern) March 7, 6:30 PM (Pacific) March 8, 2;30 AM (GMT) *These matches plus a big rumble style Battle Royale! pic.twitter.com/1jQPnG6eYY
Hager/Dustin - sucked, put this match on any WWE PPV from 2008-2012 and it would feel right at home.
Darby/Guevara - easily my favorite match of the show, how this didn't start the show over that first match is truly baffling. these two are total superstars, love them, loved the match, great stuff
Page/Omega vs. Bucks - a good match but got way too up its own ass. the match peaked about 4 different times, all the little winks and nods were eye roll inducing. pretty much the same problem I had with Cole/Ciampa from Takeover Portland, sometimes it's okay for a match to just end
Nyla/Statlander - pretty rough, its spot on the card did it no favors and JR was particularly bad here. both are still pretty green, they'll get better
MJF/Cody - knew the likelihood of me enjoying this match going into it was pretty much zero and it very much lived up to those expectations. guess it was fine if you're into this sort of thing but nah, I'm good
PAC/OC - really good coming out party for Cassidy. if you've ever seen a OC match, this really wasn't anything you haven't seen before but great introduction for a larger audience
Jericho/Moxley - solid enough WWE style main event, pretty much what you expect from a 48 year old Jericho at this point, served its purpose and culminated in a nice moment to end the show, hard to complain too much
