@muppjockey: it's been about +5 years for me. I can't even imagine what debauchery is going on there. Someone showed me when they started doing their "historical" "story" view thing and I just shook my head. It seems they want everyone to divulge their lives to total strangers on the internet, and that's creepy as hell. Now that you say this kind of thing is happening, it seems even more intrusive than ever.
@redhotchilimist:Social media is a trick. Sure it's "social", but you don't always feel like you're engaging a person all of the time, at least not in a way that actually felt sociable. My day was actually much worse when I looked at Facebook. Others doing more fun stuff than me, or grabbing at any attention where they could in the most vain ways possible.
Meanwhile, hardly anyone engaged me. Like, actual meaningful interactions. Not outside of a very small group of people. You build up this collection of "friends" and only 5 or so want to actually talk to you. It would make me feel great disdain and depressed, so I deleted that shit years ago and cut it off.
Social media can actually be detrimental to ones mental health, so much so that I fear for others with a lesser strength of will. I know it was doing my head in, so I got rid of it.
