Summer is breathing down our neck and some of us have already gotten out of school for the event.  The muggy air gives us all the reason we need to sleep until 12, get up, pee, and go back to sleep.  We should feel like shit.
While we were sleeping, 38 year old Slipknot bassist Paul Gray passed away.  He was found in a hotel room by a worker.  Autopsy is yet pending, but suspected causes are suicide and OD.  Maggots may remember that Gray was arested in 03 on drug charges.  In spite of the ridicule he recived from band mates (DVD footage contains gems such as "Jimmy crack corn and Paul took drugs"), but associates claimed he did not have an addiction.  But why would a man in an immensly popular band want to die?  Why would he abandon his child, in womb no less?  It may be personal opinion, but I cannot believe he would do it.   It seems more likely that he might have fallen off the wagon harder than seemed possible.
The official site (www.slipknot1.com) has not posted a report but has posted his picture at the entrance to the site and has a sparse photo section in his honor, which requests that fans submit shots featuring Gray.  So if you managed to make it to a live show or have some art you've done personally, please consider uploading it to the page.
My heart goes out to his wife, who is due in September.  The child would have been his first venture into fatherhood.  And the baby who will never know its father.  I hope Paul keeps an eye on them wherever he may be.
It may seem selfish, but I can't help but wonder where this leaves Slipknot as a band.  The group is in excess of drummers (3), but had only one bassist.  Would it be wise to continue after the loss of a founding member?  Gray was also responsible for Anal Blast, which was initially a joke band.

As hard as it was to breath upon first hearing the news, there is not much to be done.  Dwelling on the past will never change it.  More sensitive maggots have to keep that in mind.  I've spent more than an hour recapping old albums, crying.  Now it's time to get up and try to preserve his memory.   If we're all sitting in dark rooms brooding over the loss, then who wil make the world a pleasant place for his baby?  We should generate as much as we can, so this child will know how much Daddy meant to people.

If you love him, let him go.  He ran away before we knew.
corny i know.
