Xephler Skill Level: I play a lot of fighting games but am only on the above average skill level. Pretty good with Batman. Got really into Injustice 1. West coast, no scheduled times.

10 years ago I was 11 years old in 6th grade and really excited for whatever Final Fantasy Versus XIII was going to be. I was also astonished in how beautiful and different Final Fantasy XIII looked from the PS1 FF games I had played. It was a weird time for Final Fantasy. And now here we are today, Final Fantasy Versus XIII/XV is finally out. I still remember the excitement I felt two years ago when Nomura revealed that the game was still alive, and the insanity at the end of the trailer when the logo shattered and rebuilt itself as "Final Fantasy XV." I am impatiently waiting for my long day of work and class to be over so I can end this decade-long wait.

edit: it was THREE years ago that they changed the name, not two.

@alexw00d: I didn't say this in the post but I generally do aim for the head when playing. But what you say about aiming where the head will be makes sense, and I didn't think about it that way (I'll practice that, thanks). I usually just snap to the head when I see it. The person speaking to me was just being really passive aggressive about it by not saying what the issue was upfront, but just simply saying "What is that crosshair placement?" In rhetorical way. I wrote about this because it seems to be how online gaming communities usually are. Rather than proffering any advice immediately, the most common way people deal with it is to just complain.

DOOM, which is a really great game. But as someone who recently finished it I really hope they talk a lot about The Witness. It is undoubtedly number one on my top 10 this year. There's no way it gets GiantBomb's GOTY though.

@hmoney001:

My friends with broadband would burn the patches to a CD for me so I wouldn't be stuck waiting hours for the download

They sound like good friends!

Bought it at launch and didn't get really into it then. It takes a while for CSGO's playstyle to click with people. Especially me, whose main shooter was CoD4. Aiming is a completely different kind of skill in CSGO. Occasionally I get back into it again for a quick binge. This last week I've been playing it more than ever. I absolutely love the game itself, but the community is really annoying sometimes. If you are doing bad you get flamed, but doing good you will get called a "smurf" or a hacker. Sometimes, like my last few games, the other team has a smurf. Which is someone who is on an alternate account so they can either: play with lower rank people that they wouldn't normally get matched up with so they can destroy them. OR, fuck around and ruin it for their team (they don't have to be a smurf to do this though.) I really like this game, but you have to be playing with the right people. I just played a bunch of matches with a group of new people I met last night. I'm pretty good at the actual shooting aspect of the game but don't fully understand the deeper stuff. Usually when you queue for matches you get Dust II or Mirage, so I know those maps really well. When playing with these people they queue for every other map, causing me to get totally lost, as I don't have my bearings anymore. Also, one of the people I'm playing with called me out for my "crosshair placement" after spectated me for a few seconds. I said "I have no idea what that means" and he said: "How do you have 22 kills when you're aiming for their dicks?" First of all, why didn't he just say "aim"? Second, how can you judge my "crosshair placement" based on the few seconds you watched me play? Like in many shooters people will judge you for the little mistakes you're making, and not your overall performance. I love this game, but the community can really stress me out sometimes.

edit:

to be more on topic: I have played CS Source, but not enough for it to click with me. I don't think I've ever played 1.6... But have played the CS that was original Xbox, whatever version that is.

@metalsnakezero: That's awesome, specifically the part about going back and voicing unvoiced parts. Persona 3/4 is a little strange in that way.

Anyone else really confused by the long review (of this unreleased console) and why it is so detailed? Who is this person? Why did they write this? Probably someone who really wants others to buy one.

It's time to make the Switch! 10/10!

The Nintendo Switch is Nintendo's 9th gen console in our ongoing console war. Yes I will say it right now, this thing is a 9th gen console. Here's what's in the box:

-Nintendo Switch dock with HDMI port, 2 USB 3.0 ports (yes they are 3.0!), SD Card slot, proprietary audio out (i think?) and the power port -Nintendo Switch console (tablet like device), cartridge slot, audio jack, power connector (for dock), kickstand, micro sd -2 Joycons with the cradle -HDMI Cable -power cable + small power brick -Operations Manual (obviously) -Rewards card -demo cartridge

Playing with it I can assure you that the system is definitely a surprisingly powerful device. For those needing specs it's about 3 1/2 lbs docked, the tablet portion is a multitouch gorilla glass like (pseudo gorilla glass) screen what looks to be a HD display, it looks comparably as good as my Google Pixel C tablet albeit a slightly lower resolution (I'm guessing a 1920x1200 display. Running on full load the device loads blazingly fast, expect the console to be twice / three times as fast booting up than the PS4 Pro or Xbox One S systems. They've redesigned the UI as well, being more "modern" in terms of looks, with darker colors sharper edges and the animations are very buttery smooth, and they've also made better use of the avatar system. Those wondering can be assured that the system is connected via NNID, so you would be able to use your old avatar with the new Switch, however you will still need to create a new account upon signing up

But loading times are not really the systems only shining glory of features. The system is reasonably quiet but you can definitely hear fan noise coming from the dock, the dock itself has vents to dissipate heat. The console comes with a demo cartridge as well showing some of the things you can do with the system, nothing too mind blowing and real gimmicky stuff, but nonetheless really well made mini games showing you what you can do. My favorite minigame is the racing minigame since it really shows the graphical fidelity of the system. The system has 32 GB of storage like the Wii U but since you have a sd card slot this isn't really a big deal. However you can only use the external storage on the dock which is kind of a bummer but since you have a microsd slot on the tablet it actually combines both storage spaces when docked which is really cool.

The system also has vents on the mobile portion but they are designed so it doesn't blow heat onto your hands, the device itself never gets really warm either, slightly above room temperature. You can also set your power usage on the device to high performance which will boost how it runs at the cost of battery life. At highest settings it runs at about 6 hours and on the lowest (battery saver) it runs at about 8-9 hours and even longer when given a chance to sleep.

I can definitely fit this device in my bag and take it on the go. It makes a lot of sense as well that way as it's just slightly larger than your pocket with the joycons snapped on (it feels really secure as well since it feels like it's using magnets or some locking mechanism to connect the joy cons to the tablet). The tablet itself has a speaker on the top of the device which gets pretty loud though it does sound a little tinny.

The internet browsing is surprisingly well made and is similar to an android version of the chrome browser, it's more in depth than the Wii U browser and runs flash as well which got me by surprise! I'm waiting on my breath of the wild game to come in so I will hopefully be reviewing that as well once it comes in.

PROS: -Most powerful tablet device out right now and it uses cartridges! -Mobile yet doesn't feel like a mobile experience -joy cons have VERY far connection distance, like 10+ feet and they charge from the console which is nice, I think they use internal batteries or none at all because they are very light also. -Dock actually boosts performance, less lag on loading games (though even on mobile since its a cartridge its not really a huge boost in performance as it's already blazingly fast according to the demo cartridge I played) -attractive design!

CONS: -3ds and wii u games don't work on this device, you'll have a completely clean slate -Wish the console has Wii U game support, maybe in the fututre we'll be getting some sort of way to transfer digital titles over?

HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS PRODUCT! So far this console is really worth the 9th gen experience it's boasting and can't wait to play BoTW once it comes in!

"Playing with it I can assure you" "I can definitely fit this device in my bag and take it on the go." "The system is reasonably quiet" "So far this console is really worth the 9th gen experience" Really strange how this person acts as if they own one already. Obviously this isn't real but the writer wants to convince us regardless. So weird, who does this?

I would definitely go with The Witcher 3. I played only a few hours of Dragon Age Inquisition, which speaks to how engaged I was with it. But currently, I'm 80 hours and 2 minutes into Witcher 3 as I am finishing Blood and Wine. The main story of Witcher 3 has some great moments, and there are some pretty great side quests. And the first expansion for W3 is amazing. If I had to choose between DA:I and just Hearts of Stone I would choose HoS. My biggest complaint of W3 is that after 80 hours I kind of hate the combat, as it is either very easy or very frustrating depending on the encounter.
