@manburger: Thanks! It's decidedly a very inconvenient game in several ways. Encumbrance is rather harsh and gradually slows your movement until even your sprint is a walk and drains your stamina faster. But it puts me in the mindset of bringing only what I need for the specific journey I'm taking. Mana only automatically regenerates after your character becomes sleepy, so it makes the days longer. But it also feels like your character has given something away for the ability to cast spells. The failure system is really interesting in that you'll never die, but you might find yourself in a situation you'd rather just reload from, but you can't. It forces you to deal with your failures and hasty decisions in a way few games do.
I have a real soft spot for this game, and the whole Slender Man mythos in general. Can't help but feel like Abby is making it harder on herself because every time the camera distorts she stops and looks at the ground, which means he gets closer and kills her without her even seeing. The way the game works is that he's always chasing you, but won't just pop up where you're looking. But when she's still and looking at the ground, she's fair game. Plus the whole point of the forest environment is running around looking for the pages and seeing him in the treeline or by landmarks.
So, no Best Moment or Sequence, no Hottest Mess, no Most Disappointing Game, no Best Surprise? And on top of that, barely any group GotY videos? Been looking forward to GotY festivities all year, and have been consistently and thoroughly disappointed every step of the way. If this is the way it's gonna be, I may just let my sub lapse in 2020.
Maybe not the best move to take the girl who doesn't like PC games and wasn't even aware of the term CRPG to helm the coverage for a PC-exclusive CRPG. This is up there with Dan on the Metro QL in terms of being intolerable.
