As someone who's done actual transcription work in the past, I should warn you that, even with professional software and pedal controls, transcribing even one 3 hour Bombcast would take a really damn long time.

It would be great to have transcriptions. Especially as an easy way to search for specific titles to see in which episodes they're discussed. But again, it doesn't seem like it, but transcription is very, very time consuming. There's a reason that people train to do it professionally.

As a little aside to the sentiment, I'd like to share a perspective.

When disagreements happen, especially on the internet where we're mostly faceless, it's all too easy to reduce a human being to the embodiment of we find disagreeable. What someone says and even does, is still separate from who they are. I don't disagree with people, I disagree with ideas they may have. I don't hate people, I hate sentiments that are harmful and lead to violence.

For example, I think Anita frames her arguments in a dishonest and destructive way that leads to more harm than good. But I have absolutely no problem with Ms. Sarkeesian herself. Firstly, I don't know her and probably never will, so to make any character judgments would be idiotic. But moreover, she's just a person like me and everybody else. She has her thoughts, and I have mine. And while I will always try to voice what I think is right, and challenge what I think is wrong, none of that ever has to do with who she is as a person.

It's inherently human to be tribal. MS vs. Sony, East vs. West, America vs. whoever, it unfortunately comes naturally to all of us. So when we encounter an idea we don't like, it's exceedingly easy to categorize a human being as "the enemy". SJWs vs. GamerGaters, all. But if we can only remember that crucial distinction, that people are distinct separate beings from their ideas, we can productively engage with those who feel differently than us, while still increasing unity as a whole.

Enter into every interaction with love and respect, and you can't go wrong.

...it's about Gawker facing accountability for all of the slander, hearsay, lies, and outright character assassination they've inflicted on people all over the world.

Man, something like a class action suit against Gawker and its sites brought on by all of the people they've ever posted horrible bullshit and straight up lies about would be like a month long parade of sadness.

Basically like the last episode of Seinfeld... except actually satisfying.

Don't people on Twitter sarcastically say shit like "I quit Twitter" everyday... and then continue to use it? Aside from this whole typically inane and idiotic situation, this just seems like a dude frustrated today, who'll keep on a' tweetin' tomorrow.

Kain is taking huge journalistic liberty by assuming those three words are Baker's last straw and this is some huge thing without even reaching out to the guy for conformation. Especially without showing any of the blowback against him at all.

Dumb. All. Around.

The main characters look so ridiculously out of place in that world. The environments look absolutely amazing, and there is that goofy looking dinosaur and kid running around. That being said the trailer was cute.

Yeah. My initial reaction was that the art style of the environments and characters clash a bit, but I don't think that's a deal breaker. It's a Pixar movie, so I'm willing to give it a chance.

Glad I'm not the only one who raised an eyebrow at this. It looks like someone cut out a cartoon and pasted it on a photo of a forest in MS Paint. I'm sure the look is intentional, and I hope it makes more sense in the film itself, but man, to me at least, the clashing styles steal focus from everything else there.

It's also kind of a disappointment, as the amazing detail of their stylized worlds has always been a big draw for me. And especially how the look of the larger world was informed by the character designs. It's thrilling to look at a tree from The Incredibles, Monsters Inc., and even Brave and see all of the brilliant design decisions made to make even that one thing look like it fits.

Looking at a tree... that looks exactly like a tree, when a neon green noodly Dinosaur cartoon is stumbling around in front of it, gives no satisfying sense of design intention at all.

Still, just an off hand impression from a tiny teaser, so I hope I'm totally wrong and in the full movie it makes sense.

Damn, that's some bittersweet news. Along with Greg and Jeff, KVO was my go to reviewer at GS waaay back in the day. He's always been a writer with the unique talent of being descriptive, insightful, and concise at the same time. And his perspective was something I always appreciated hearing. He'll be missed.

And I hope this new adventure is a productive one. Admittedly, to me Trion Worlds doesn't seem like the most fertile ground for a writer specifically, but maybe he'll be able to bring some story to these games where that aspect has always seemed secondary. At the very least, I'm excited to see what comes from it!

Didn't even go for the invisible 1-up. This is not a government I can trust.

The tragedy of most of these kind of "theories" is the individual in question assuming that the aliens/illuminati/other-dimensional overlords... give any kind of fuck about them in the first place.

You don't have to be a lunatic to accept that, yes, some secret societies exist. And some government conspiracies exist, too. But getting one over on some random dude who rants on the internet about nothing is not something they care at all about. And worse, every asshole who thinks that Bill Murray is brainwashing him, just gets us further away from dismantling the actual elitist fraternities and fucked up illegal government programs that happen in real life.

That, or I'm probably just a shape-shifting reptilian who's trying to throw you sheeple off the trail. Suckers!

But trust doesn't just have to do with pre-orders. You could go through your whole life without pre-ordering a game, and still have companies that you trust more than others. It can be as simple as "should I be looking forward to this game based on this preview, or is all of this probably bullshit?"

Sure. I mention it mainly in context of Sterling talking about that lawsuit and the idea that fans were mislead by the (certainly misleading) advertizing.

But to me "trust" is a concrete word. There's a finality to it. It scares me in this discussion, because my mind immediately goes to the relentless fanboyism of some folks defending obviously shitty things because it was made by a company/person they "trust". There are lots of devs (Oblivion, Bethesda, ACE Team, etc.) that I feel pretty confident in making something good that I'll like, but that's a pretty different thing, and it's flexible. If I'm climbing a mountain with a team, I wouldn't want to "feel pretty confident" that the person above me is tying the knots correctly, I'd need to "trust" them.

"Trust" specifically feels a lot like "faith", to me. As in, a state of knowing not based on evidence. Which is why bringing up pre-orders seems appropriate. Many gamers trust their favorite devs to the point where seeing the quality of their games before they're bought doesn't seem relevant to them.

Really though. This is a messy semantic argument and I'm mostly just describing what these words mean to me. Still, it's always good for us individually to recognize how our potential emotional attachment to a dev might inform our reaction to their games.
