Every anti-loot box argument falls apart as they all lean on the idea that loot boxes is gambling. It isn't under any definition of the word, so each time I see yet another loot box post on reddit, my eyes just glaze over as soon as I read the word as any argument is inherently faulty due to the foundation upon which it was built. I feel like most people just do this to give some excuse other than "I don't like it and things that don't appeal directly to me shouldn't be in videogames" and the anti-loot box crowd really need to find a new argument with any factual merit if they hope to be taken seriously.

I don't really like them. They do nothing for me, but they're very easy to ignore so I don't really care if they're in a game I play.

I know you're already getting dragged for this one, but seriously, citation fucking needed. Because one could easily counter that if your strict definition of gambling is that you need to be able to win money, that's a pretty bad definition.

Any option that is not 0% justifies the bullshit precedent that the customer is only purchasing a revokable license that the creator controls, and that is absolute trash. If I buy a couch, the people who made the couch have no right to tell me what I can or cannot do with it. Why should a video game be any different?

Oh good, I was wondering when we'd get the "Giant Bomb is not the same thing it was nine years ago and I don't like it as much" thread that we do every few months.

Let's be honest: whoever is making the movie, it's pretty clear that Disney is calling all the shots and will make every decision about the movie. The writers and directors are just there to put Disney's grand design into action.

Aside from the Special Stages and the final Super Sonic boss, I have not found this game particularly hard. But then again I'm one of those crazy people who thinks that Sonic 2 is the best game ever made, so I'll admit that maybe I don't think it's that hard because I have an obscene understanding of how the physics in these games work.

I'm with you, some more transparency would be nice out of these guys. Which isn't to say that I don't think they're plenty transparent (they definitely are) but that I feel like they used to be a little more transparent about the stuff that was going on. Like, I feel like Jar Time used to fill this role nicely, but even that rarely happens anymore.

I like having physical things. I like having a shelf of stuff I can look at and feel good about. That's really all there is to it.

If anything, I think the current events are just reinforcing that a story in which a diverse, multicultural team overthrows a Nazi invasion of America is something that is really goddamn necessary right now.
