My Favorite Fighting Game Characters

There are hundreds of fighting games out there, and each has a whole host of characters. Like everyone else, I've got my favorites in each game. Here is a list of my favorites in the genre.

List items

 • Another of my favorites from Street Fighter EX.

 • Abel was the first non-projectile Street Fighter character that I really played as.

 • Morrigan is a fun character to play as in MVC3. I hadn't really played as her much in MVC2, and I've never played the game she originates from, but she's pretty cool anyways.

 • Awesome chick from KOF.

 • One of my favorites in King of Fighters.

 • Another cool design from the Street Fight EX series that we'll likely never see again. -sigh-

 • Zombie pirate? Cervantes takes out two cliches with one stone. His fighting style is quite cool, what with his teleportation and whatnot, and he is the only character to use a gun.

 • She has some... Obvious charm about her. XD Beyond that, she is one of the more fun characters to play, and her variant on the style is my favorite of the Capoeira fighters (though Eddie is cool too, and Tiger is hilarious).

 • Dee Jay pretty much rules.

 • King is one of those guys I hate to fight against, but love to play as. His long throw strings are very gratifying to land and terrifying to face.

 • Who doesn't love Pikachu? Only people who don't realize how awesome this cute little ball of destruction really is (jerks).

 • Nightcrawler, the coolest X-Men (not debatable :p), makes his lone fighting game appearance in X-Men Mutant Academy 2 and that alone was enough to earn him a spot up here. With teleporting abilities that put Dhalsim to shame, and a sword to boot, Nightcrawler deserves to be in another game.

 • I love bringing out Tien in Raging Blast and just trapping my opponent with Neo Tri-Beam. Cheap? Probably. Awesome? Most definitely. Aside from that, Tien hosts an array of some of my favorite specials in the game.

 • I never played Broken Destiny, but since I pre-ordered SoulCalibur V, I got to play as Dampierre. He's a very well made joke character from epic mustache, to hilarious moves and lines, to his moonwalk when he steps backwards. Topped only by Dan as an awesome joke character in a fighting game.

 • He looks a little prissy, but he fights like a monster. When Melee came along and Fox hit his mid-life crisis and starting eating too much cake (read Mr. McCloud's entry), I gave Marth a try because he was a new sword-user. I took to his style well, and I imagine if I ever get Brawl, Marth will live again.

 • Guy's a pretty cool guy. Lame joke aside, he's an interesting character that's fun to play as.

 • Pretty obscure Marvel character, but a nice addition to MVC2.

 • Easily the best SoulCalibur guest character. I haven't played much of the Assassin's Creed games, but in SoulCalibur he is done very well. His moveset is solid and he's just downright badass.

 • The coolest "mimic" character out there, in my opinion. He has a cool design and somehow manages to retain his dignity while fighting as someone like Leixia or Aeon.

 • One of my favorites in Alpha 3. Looking forward to trying him out in Street Fighter x Tekken.

 • Kind of like Necrid, except not quite as awesome. The ultimate Galactus-killer. "Aim of Hawkeye!"

 • Wicked awesome Shaolin monk.

 • I love this guy. He's ridiculous.

 • If yoga really let you stretch your arms out ten feet to punch someone, breathe fire, and teleport then I would totally sign up!

 • One of my old-time favorites.

 • Ganondorf is one of my favorites in Melee, despite being a clone of Cpt. Falcon. He's a beast.

 • I have to question her decision to wear a ridiculously long headband (which could be easily grabbed by an opponent) around her NECK. Lol, but anyways, she's a pretty cool character.

 • Crotchety old Chinese chef/movie star. Awesome.

 • In the original Super Smash Bros, I pretty much only played as Fox. In Melee, however, Fox ran into a bit of a weight problem. I loved his rapid fire gun/dash move/etc, but he just falls way too fast and my reaction time isn't always fast enough to compensate. Fox needs to go on a diet.

 • What could possibly be cuter than Pikachu?

Baby Pikachu, of course! Pichu is one of my favorites in Melee, despite that nasty tendency to hurt himself.

 • Roy may not have been the best character in Melee, but he was a lot of fun to play as, and nailing an opponent with his fully charged fire sword slam thing was priceless.
