GolazoDan.

If you add me just add "gb" or whatever to a message just so I don't add randomers (god damn SSX encouraging that).

Just done the prologue so I'm not so far into it (with that said, I thought the prologue lasted a fair while so this could take some time) and I like it. The combat's a bit weird but I seem to be doing okay initially with my mixture of heavy attacks and magic traps/fire/stasis spells. Oh and rolling. Lots of rolling. So much rolling. The interface on stuff like the inventory and quest log is a bit weird although I'm sure I'll get used to them both. Can see some console gamers being smacked in the face by a few walls of text but it's not so bad.

Love the cinematics, cut-scenes and all that stuff, really nice. Particularly fond of the initial one on the boat...

I am initially struck by how this is a game that, on the surface, sounds like it should be similar to Dragon Age etc., but it's completely unlike that. It features elves, magic and all that bullshit but thus far that's not been what's interested me. It's all politics and revenge and awesome stuff like that. It's a tonal 180 from many other games in the genre.

Likewise, preordered from Amazon (on a late night whim!) and got the additional booklets and a signed box. Which I didn't expect. I thought it'd somehow been vandalised before it was put into the cellophane (until I saw loads of other people saying HEY MY BOX IS SIGNED!). Nice touch.

I laughed out loud when Medusa turned up and Hades lost his head and they had a dialogue on the bottom screen where Medusa was arguing with a headless Hades (still talking, obviously).

Pit saving Pittoo was absolutely brilliant. Genuinely a great moment. The fact that's around such insanity and hilarity is impressive, they really shift tones nicely. Particularly after Palutena vanishes and the chapter ends with "We can't go after her, we have to leave! I'm sorry Pit! Plus, you'll probably want to save your game..."

Cole Train and Big Bo.

What a tag team they would be.

The dialogue's brilliant. It'll just make you smile. It's self-referential without being irritating and some of the crap Pit says during moments of victory and high drama are brilliant because the other characters just respond with "What did you just say?", the best kind of reaction.

These really are two of the best games on the 3DS so it seems horrible to pick just one. In time, try and get both. To prioritise one, depends what you're after.

Mario 3D Land is a Mario game. I mean that in the very best way, it's up there with the best in the series. You'll know generally what it's all about but it does it perfectly. It's a fantastic marriage between the 2D and 3D Mario efforts and is incredibly fun. It also gets very, very challenging but doesn't punish you a great deal if you're bad at Mario games so you can enjoy it no matter what your skill level is.

Kid Icarus is different. You might struggle at first because the controls are quirky and you might take some damage earlier on, but it's well worth playing on because it's incredibly rewarding. As mentioned, there's a lot of meat to it.
