Here in Europe you'll see a lot of PS3's and Xbox 360's in flea markets or thrift stores. You can get them for as low as 20-30 euros depending on their condition. And both those consoles, especially the earlier models, have known issues with the mainboard and cooling. So be extra careful and make sure to test the hardware if possible. Or get a Slim model as mentioned by others.

Games can go for 50 cents or a euro, but if you're looking for specific games, then unfortunately you usually need to turn to auction sites and pay more.

Markets dedicated to specifically games do exists as well. In the Netherlands we had one that ran 4 times per year. It's been cancelled for the past two years, for obvious reasons. But those are nice places to barter for the rare stuff. That's where I got most of my CD-i collection.

I would guess that the buggy PC release of Horizon Zero Dawn gave Sony a wake-up call. They needed proper in house help for future releases. And the technical talent at Nixxes is definitely very valuable in its own right. Furthermore, Guerrilla Games is based in Amsterdam, and Nixxes is close by in Utrecht.

Seems like a smart move on Sony's part. I'm honestly more surprised that Square Enix never acquired them, since they have always had such a close working relationship.

I frankly can't wait for the site to get weird again. There are so many cool people floating in the Giant Bomb orbit, who could and should get some attention and funding. I'm not here for every Quick Look and am not always able to catch a Friday stream. Not to discredit the work the cast did, but the site has felt a bit stagnant for a while now. While I did enjoy a lot of the "let's play" type content, it's not special in the same way it once was. I can get that experience from a dozen other creators on Twitch, or even better, from the Nextlander crew.

I want to be surprised by strange or unique things. If I open the frontpage and there's a "game tapes" type show with the aesthetic of a Vektroid stream, I'd probably be down for it. Or a contributor wants to drive around LA in a limo and interview gaming personalities Roundabout style? I'm here for it. Or even better; they actually pitch something that's not something dumb I thought of in 5 seconds and surprise me with something incredible.

This is a neat design! What kind of tools did you use to design/print this board?

Over the past 21 months that I've hosted the Boohbah Zone, there's some interesting and surprising uses of the Boohbah zone. The site gets between 5000 and 8000 visitors per month. While most of the visitors seem to type in the name directly, most visitors do seem to come from Giant Bomb, Reddit and NeoGAF. However, it seems like it is also still being used as an "educational" tool. There's several referrals from .edu domain startpages. Several months ago, while moving the boohbah zone to a new server, I had appended a small notice regarding the move to the page. I was contacted by a parent whose disabled daughter liked to play with the Boohbah Zone using the Eagle Eyes Eye controlled mouse. Apparently the message was interfering with her use of the site. To my surprise the app was actually listed on their site, together with an overview of all the activities. "This is one of the best cause and effect websites we have found." Good stuff!

Now on to the bad news. While I can continue to host DanRyckert.eu, the universe seems to be throwing another roadblock in the way of the continued existence of the Boohbah Zone. Google will start disabling Flash in Chrome before the end of the year, and Firefox will follow suit shortly after. Because the Boohbah Zone is a flash applet, it will stop working in your browser once this change goes through. I looked into ways to preserve the Boohbah Zone for future "flashless" generations, but it's not looking good. I found some tools to convert Flash games to HTML5, but most of these tools only support apps built with ActionScript 3. The Boohbah Zone, being an old ass applet, was made using ActionScript 2, so I didn't have much luck.

If someone wants to make a coordinated effort in rebuilding the Boohbah zone in HTML5, I'm more than willing to help, but my time is limited. I have created a Github repository with the (decompiled) assets, which can be found here in case anybody wants to take a crack at building something new: https://github.com/Ganonmaster/BoohbahZone

I can do nothing but agree with @thevgamer's thoughts on the movie.

I saw this movie last Wednesday. I'm not a big Warcraft game fan. I like the RTS games but do not care for WoW. I talked to some WoW fans who had seen it as well, and they thought it was great.

That said, I did not like this movie. It does a poor job of explaining itself, it's very difficult to get invested in any of the characters. The CG and production design is great, but it's in service of this terrible script. The orcs are more likable than any of the real people in the movie. There's a love subplot between two characters that feels completely forced and resolves in a predictable way. The human actors are upstaged by the Orcs. It's really sad how they managed to make the Orcs feel like humans and the humans like robots.

It's clearly made for the fans. I really question the reason why this movie was made and why they made it the way that they did.(other than "to make a bunch of money") I think Chris Metzen or someone else at Blizzard was quoted as saying "we didn't want to make it all inside a computer", but I think with this movie they made a compelling argument for the exact opposite. They could have, and almost did, fully make this movie inside a computer. And they would've reached the same audience.(their fans) This movie has zero appeal to people outside of the established Blizzard fanbase. I read that about 40 minutes were left on the cutting room floor and they will probably make it into an extended cut, but I doubt it would save the movie.

They made a movie for the fans. You can call that a success on some level. I was just expecting a proper movie.

I'll most likely be swapping my GTX 780 for a 1080. Not sure if I would if I had a 9xx series, but at the price and the performance they're claiming it's going to make a big difference. I also need the extra video memory for 3d rendering. It's a significant jump for me and the price is much more enticing than I initially thought it would be.
