It's hard to pin down but I definitely feel the website has lost a lot of its zeal. I never thought I would say this but I find most things about the website these days to be fucking boring. The bombcast never seems to go anywhere. Brad barely seems invested in doing anything with it. Quick looks are uninspired and have Dan on every one. Dan's alright but not for every piece of content on the site. It really does feel like they are going through the motions. I haven't been a premium subscriber for about a year or so but Unprofessional Friday's was boring back then and I'm sure it hasn't got any better now. Maybe I'm wrong. To be honest they really need a better host for their stuff. Ryan filled that roll perfectly and Jeff and Brad have really struggled to fill that gap. If I could offer them any advice it would be to know when to move on or not overstay their welcome. Honestly 3 hour podcasts do nothing for me if I'm bored for half of it.
I definitely don't want them to become like those gametrailers people. I actually like the skepticism and cynicism from the guys...but they need to not be boring with it. This obviously only applies to the west coast people and is my personal opinion. I admit it might be that I've changed as well as them. I do like Demo Derby from what I've seen of it and Alt-F1 is great. But I don't see any justification to subscribe for premium content if I can't be bothered to watch the free stuff.
A multinational corporation has no interest other than expanding profits. Someone ran the numbers and decided it would cost them less either in money or public opinion to just pull all the games off the app store. To act like Apple cares about history or context is amusing. Also its not like Apple gets games or considers them worthy of expression.
