My personal top 10 superheroes

After seeing a top 100 of superheroes on some other site I couldn't help notice disagreeing with just about the entire list.

I guess my favorite list is pretty personal, considering most iconic superheroes like Superman, Cap America, Hulk, Fantastic 4 etc. won't be in it.
Abyways I suppose most of you will disagree but I hope you still enjoy the list.

List items

  • I read the occasional comic. I knew the X-men, Avengers, Batman, Superman etc. But I never really was into comics. That all changed when I read the first Spawn comic. I just loved everything about this comic. The character Spawn, ruthless, mean but with a sense of (his own) justice. The setting of Heaven vs Hell (which I love, the background of the character, his enemies, the thin line between good and evil etc. A really rich comic and character. Plus (especially for it's time) pretty brutal and unrelenting as well.

    Game of Spawn:

Too bad the games suck though. Eventhough the Arena fighter was pretty cool if you're a fan.

  • Right after reading all through the Spawn comics, plus Curse of the Spawn I was craving for more anti-hero brutality. So what's better than a young sex-addicted mob-guy who controls demons in the darkness.... Also the struggle between Witchblade and Darkness gave an extra edge.

    Game of The Darkness

The best thing about the Darkness has got to be the interaction between the lead character and his minions. The game, which was pretty good, tried but never captured the spirit. The story and plot were pretty cool though as were most of the mechanics. Still the game had more potential than was reached in the end.

  • Yeah, so one of the most popular heroes did make it to my list. But I mean it's Batman. The cool thing about Batman is that there is no one Batman.

Some of the Batman stories are so deep and disturbing that they're not really just comics anymore imho. Batman can be nice, intelligent, brutal, psychotic, arrogant, angry, soft, hurt and everything else. He's been through so many costumes, looks, feats and yet remains The Batman. Personally (of course) I enjoy Batman when he is at his darkest. Walking the thin line of hero and villain.

    Game of Batman

Obviously he had the best game of all heroes on the list, Batman Arkham Asylum. Batman Arkham City is one of my most anticipated games for 2011. But next to that he had several more quality titles in the past.

  • Lucifer Morningstar, as said I love everything about heaven and hell. And thus a comic about Lucifer was always going to be awsome to me. Still the character that Lucifer is isn't quite what I had hoped he would be. The looks, the feel of the character just don't appeal to me as they should. Per example the way he appears in Curse of The Spawn and Spawn are way more in line with my wantings out of the character. Still all in all a damn good comic and character.

    Game of Lucifer.

Well the devil is in a whole lot of games obviously. But the character Lucifer Morningstar has none. Sadly

  • One of the most intimidating characters from Marvel, the guy can support many looks and still remain really cool. The guy made the old Xmen comics more than just another bunch of heroes. He gave them character. One of the strongest characters to date.

    Game of Wolverine

Yeah I liked the game X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Sure it was another knock off of games like God of War but it did capture the feel of the hero. Especially the Lunge attack was done really cool. Not to mention the way the character ended up completely busted and wounded and then heal up when out of combat.

  • There's just something cool about Gambit. Something very few heroes have. He's a believable character in a way, yet also not from this world slick.

    Game of Gambit.

Not too many games with gambit, but the ones he is in were pretty good. MvC2 comes to mind (where he is cheap as hell!) Marvel Alliance 2 and X-men games of 16 bit era. Overall not too many games but the games he is in were good to great.

  • Mostly looks obviously, one of the coolest looking heroes imho. Not too much to like as a character imho, but he made a lasting impression on me in the Xmen vs Brood crossover. Lost points when Nic Cage was made Ghost Rider though.

    Game of Ghost Rider

He was in Marvel Alliance, in which he was pretty damn badass. Bit overpowered one might even say. Cool game though.

  • More out of my love for Norse Mythology than anything else Thor has always struck a cord with me. The arrogant attitude helps as well tbh.

    Game of Thor.

MvC3 again, in which he is cool and again Marvel Alliance 1&2. Way overpowered in MA2 but that's why he is an unlockable character only probably. His game based on the movie sucks, as just about any movie inspired game is.

  • I like spidey as much as the next guy. But I just hate the Good guy routine. Which shows in my pick for top 10 characters obviously as they are all Anti-heroes.

So when Spidey got the Symbiote suit he kept all that was cool about him (powers, looks etc) and gained a rougher, more threatening attitude. For me Spidey was never better.

    Game of Spiderman

Yeah lot's of Spidey games. Lot's of bad ones too. But he has some decent games, Shattered Dimensions, Marvel Alliance per example and some awesome games MvC2/3 and Spiderman 2 come to mind

  • Not too much to say about Bishop. I liked him a lot better in the old days when the whole traitor of Xmen timeline was going on. After that I lost most of my fondness for him. Still a worthy mention.

    Game of Bishop

Can't think of a game in which he is a playable character tbh. He appears in several games but can't think of one where he is actually playable. I might be wrong but I haven't played it.
