I just hope his new podcast involves forcing people to watch Hunter x Hunter and asking their opinion on the spot, in progressively more surprising, aggressive, and ominous situations...

Jeff G is amazing and I always appreciate his input, but he could have tapped out of that Inscryption conversation by just noting his distaste instead of dominating the conversation about it. Just be like "I think it is one of those and I'm out, carry on if you're enjoying it."

I very much agree. I think the part that bugged me the most was when he brought up Glittermitten Grove. He said he thought the text adventure part was fine purely because he liked it, while bashing Inscryption, by saying it is bad because the entire card game system is for one joke, and he personally doesn't like card games. In GG, the text adventure part is literally just for a joke, in Inscryption, the card game is an important part of the whole story of the game. I get he may be overly reactive because he probably gets a lot of people telling him "n0 U just d0nt understandz!!!!!", but the dominating dismissal was very off-putting.

It actually fits nicely into the gatekeeping discussion (maybe from the following week). Not every game is for everyone, so we shouldn't dismiss others' opinions for liking something that we don't.

I understand the rhyming slang meaning of "mom's spaghetti/hands sweaty" but I want to ask if that's a bit of a British Isle-ism we're getting where rhyming slang is more common or if that shows up more broadly as well and I'm just not hearing people online. I certainly enjoy hearing the duo say it, I just haven't heard much of it elsewhere.

It is just a thing in general amongst various groups around the internet. I've heard it from other people/let's players/podcasters online, and it is just a reference (to the very popular Eminem song "Lose Yourself" from the movie "8 Mile") that is really silly, which makes people want to repeat it. My friend group has started saying "mom's spaghetti" whenever the word "sweaty" is mentioned for similar reasons. Out of context Mom's Spaghetti is just fun to say.

So it's around, but maybe not super prevalent, depending on where on the internet you lurk.

@unastrike The netcode for the new Virtua Fighter release, I believe, was based on what was called "Blitz" netcode, which was touted by the game Infinite Versus, and the result was not great. It is great that you guys are getting good matches, because it sounded like many people in the FGC were very down on the match quality. Infinite Versus had a mess of its own problems, so it is wild to hear some part of its legacy lives on. Woolie Versus (huge fighting game advocate) YouTube channel showed off the game in this video not too long ago.

Regarding the length of RE:Village, I'm almost positive that the "Completed Time" at the end of the game does not include cutscenes or death/checkpoint restarts. So even though the game says that Danny finished it in about 8 1/2 hours, it is likely that it took him closer to 10-11. I watched a streamer play it in about 14 hours, and it said his completed time was about 10 1/2 hours.

@janman You kind of nailed the reason why they made two versions of this game. I believe it actually was that they thought the father/daughter relationship would resonate with western audiences, while the brother/sister dynamic is way more commonly used in Japan.

@alex This game (or at least the original), unlike Automata, had some obscure requirements to reaching the later endings, so it probably would not hurt to look it up. I know one of them had to do with getting every single weapon in the game (and maybe upgraded?), and some of the weapons were easily missed.

The bizarrely long number is apparently the square root of 1.5, so take that as you will. Its a fun way to name it, but considering that is not a well known number, almost no one will get it. I guess coming from Yoko Taro, it is to perfectly inline with his insane brand.

@janman I don't remember if it really does a good job of actually explaining what "God Mode" in Hades actually is, but it doesn't just make you invincible. It will continuously make adjustments as you do more runs to make it easier, which I think is WAY more interesting and satisfying for those who use it. That way they still have to "try", but it makes it so even being "bad" won't prevent you from being able to complete it.

I'm always a big fan of exploration, and this world looks fun enough. The battle system doesn't seem too bad, but that humor really turned me off to it. I feel like they could have played it straight and had less in game commentary and it would be a lot better.
