I'm hoping the story improves over the first game. Both Saints Row and GTA have silly stereotypes and characters. I think the GTA series as a whole was more clever in portraying their characters. Each character you met in a GTA series had charm. Most of Saint's Row characters are forgettable. If they can improve on the story telling just a little bit, I'm sure it will be a decent game. No one expects this game to blow GTA 4 out of the water. But there's no reason this game can't be successful in it's own right.
I remember Sept 9 1999. I was actually working at EB Games, then Electronic Boutique. I got my system to take home early and took home Soul Calibur and I think Trickstyle. God I miss the Dreamcast. When I was working at EBGames I would pop in the Dreamcast to our demo monitors and would show off import games like Jet Set Radio. I still have my original Dreamcast modded to play imports. Works Flawlessly.
If the game isn't shown at Leipzig then I doubt it will be released this year. I was looking forward to it. Some rumors suggest that Ubisoft thought it was too much like Assassin's Creed so the team went back to the drawing board. I imagine we'll see if early next year for a holiday 09 release.
