More of the Same in a Great Way 0

When it was released in 2001, I was a little past excited for Golden Sun. It promised an old-school, 16-bit rpg in a world that had seemingly forgotten how to do it. What was even better however, was the fact that sources suggested it was good. Long story short, I picked it up and never set it down, loving every minute of it. So, it comes as no suprise that I was once again intruiged when the sequel was released, and once again I found myself unable to put it down. Golden Sun: The Lost Age foll...

Amazing Game 0

Remember those old beat um ups we all came to love back in the 2D era? Many of us can remember countless hours spent playing double dragon, streets of rage, or one of the many batman games released into this genre. Well, Viewtiful Joe takes that concept with a new a spin and some very new graphics to deliver a very pleasing package, on that is both aesthetically pleasing and entertaining. Viewtiful Joe takes the “beat um up” genre to new heights. It still retains the basic old school concept mo...

Amazing 2D Fighting 0

Guilty Gear X2 is one of those games where if you’ve heard of it, you probably own it. While you may have seen an ad in a magazine here and there, perhaps some other advertisement at one point, odds are you didn’t pay much attention and perhaps don’t even know what genre this game falls into. Well, clearing that up for you, it’s a fighting game, but not like the fighting games released for the next gen system nowadays, it’s an old school 2D fighting game. The basic concept of the game is still a...

Interesting Idea 0

If you someone who enjoys online games but doesn’t exactly want to be called a “n00b” then, in theory, .hack is for you. The game takes the premise of an MMORPG and bundles it into an offline package. You can still trade, you can still fight enemies in countless dungeons, all of it, just offline. Also being based off of the anime series of the same name, it isn’t your average type of game. The basic premise of .hack (or dot hack, whichever you prefer) is you playing as a character named kite, w...

Solid Game 0

There have been games based after popular anime cartoons, books, and movies since as far back as gaming goes. The quality of these games, however, is often questionable. While a few games may exceed expectations and live up to the hype of the show, often these games fall short. This often results in the same fan base buying the games, the fan base of the show for which it revolves around. You’ve seen it happen with .hack, you’ve seen it happen with many of the endless stream of Dragonball Z game...

Best in Series 0

Silent Hill originated on the Playstation in 1999 and quickly rose to be both one of the scariest games created to date, and a new claim to fame for Konami as it rose to the ranks of the supposedly untouchable Resident Evil of the time. Silent Hill 2 for the PS2 is, surprisingly enough, the second installment in the series, and it lives up to provide just what one could hope for, while still not fully smoothing out the flaws of the genre. In Silent Hill 2 you play as James Sunderland in the tow...

Amazing Game 0

This game comes just about as close to perfect as you are going to get, without actually achieving it. This game follows along perfectly with the rest of the Zelda series, while still going its own way and showing off that some innovation can be a good thing, when done in moderation. In a series so impressively popular, this game not only lives up to the hype, but sets a new bar for future games to achieve. Basically, this game takes and old thing and makes it better. The plot of this game is...
