MW2 - Steam To Be Blown

Now I have a few things to say about Modern Warfare 2, the puddle of fanwank it is. The following contains statements of an entirely opinionated nature, this may feed some flamers.

Firstly I wanna say, that I think that any game that gets by entirely on it's multi-player - unless the player is under the pretense it is solely a multi-player game, in the instances of BF 2142 or MAG - is bloody cheap. MW2 is an MMO, like WOW, It's following is akin to WOWers. Please feel free to point out why it isn't. Now stand it next to the likes of Uncharted 2, another game with well recieved and popular multi-player. But it's as easily enjoyed offline as it is online, the story is immersive and the characters are (ableit cliche and sometimes downright annoying) charming and full.

I don't hate the mult-player, that's not what I'm taking a stab at. The game is popular for a reason, it's fun online, I get it. But what else is there to it really? Sure there's the campaign, but if it's anything like CoD 4/5's then you wouldn't be missing much if it was cut out of the game. Then again, aside from the subtle changes to multi-player - which with me only being a casual player of CoD 4 - would probably go unnoticed by the likes of me. The ability to shoot down UAVs may leave some gamers with sticky spots in ther drawers, but it doesn't do anything for me.

It's a case of "Do you like to play online? If so you'll absolutely love it!" Sorry I was a little frustration at how much hype this game has gathered. For those out there who are going to throw a little comment my way, possibly along the lines of "You're sore because you're not good at the multiplayer" or "You obviously haven't played it", you can take your answer from the following:

"I do suck at the multi-player, but hell I spent three or four hours on Call of Duty 5 and enjoyed it. I do like the multi-player, but it becomes an incredibly repetitive. Aside from some added perks, a few new features and omigawsh some new guns (I dunno, are there?), it's the same old game. Yes, if the boiler ain't broke don't call British Gasto come fix it. But for god's sake, get a new, better boiler every few years."

To summarize my feelings about MW2, I guess you could say it feels incomplete. A very lazy game, a cash cow. Imagine an open world RPG with detailed character customization, but no quests to complete and no opportunity to develop your character. It feels like there's something desperately missing. Granted, the co-op missions may aid in filling that void, but until there is a decently sized campaign put forth into the CoD/MW world, I'm out.

Opinions End Here

Oh and for those of you making a comment such as "Hating on MW2 doesn't automatically make you cool or a badass" and the such, I have no answer for you. I'm not trying to 'break away from the crowd' as it were, I'm trying to convey my opinion and perhaps see if there's anyone else who can perhaps see where I'm coming from.

R.I.P. Michael Jackson

The King Is Dead, Long Live The King!

The King of Pop is dead, had my suspicions last night when I heard he'd been rushed into hospital. But it's the sad truth that M.J. is dead and it's a damn crying shame that the worlds greatest Pop Star is gone for good, and that he died with all that shame and accusation raining down on his name. I for one always believed Jackson was an innocent man, he was eccentric no doubt about it, but somehow I can't believe any of the slander that was pushed onto him and I think it would be best if people respected M.J. and remembered him for the brilliant musician he was.

It's not going to affect some people at all, but I was quite a fan of his music, especially his 80's years. Billy Jean, Thriller, Beat it; there's no denying that Michael was a musical genious. He may not have been everyone's cup of tea, but there's at least one song in his arsenal that anyone can enjoy, whether it be his earlier I Want You Back, Can You Feel It, Thriller; Jackson attacked almost all corners of music in a darling assault and won over millions of fans, because there's a song for pretty much anyone, regardless of your musical tastes.

So say what you like, let's please remember Michael as the brilliant musician he was. R.I.P. MJ, I'm sure you're moonwalking to heaven as I type.

It's good to know I won't be without my usual crowd. I've gotta say I'll miss the unions, but it'll be great to have a damn opinion for once and not get nailed for Trolling or Flaming. Well I'm too tried to write another fucking word xD Goodnight.... at 1:20pm
