Waluigi is the Mario character I like at this point.

Man Alex putting armor on his sniper already killing me ahhh

It made me groan out loud when they did that. Aside from that and not capturing a muton when the arc thrower guy was maybe 5 spaces away this mission went pretty well so not too much to complain about.

Yeah they're playing pretty well at this point honestly. Everyone in the crew has turned it around. They are using the sniper totally wrong though. Get to high ground!

EDIT: And how he's used at first. I hope they figure out Snipers at some point. Get them to high ground and stop moving them as a front line unit.

EDIT AGAIN: @vinny you can see the soldier's abilities when you are in the mission, you don't need to write it down. They appear in the bottom left and I BELIEVE you can click the left stick to look at a soldier's abilities when you hover over them (this is how it works in 2, which I'm playing, and I believe it's the same here).

I miss Vinny playing adventure game

I am really bummed they haven't done an FMV or adventure game playthrough recently in favor of some real boring stuff to watch. Bring back the humor! TLC was probably the funniest thing on the site since it happened.

Its not just sports games sadly. WB's doing the same kinda thing with Shadow of War. All the fan backlash in the world isn't gonna stop these companies as long as they make more money with micro transactions than without them. If the invasive VC scheme in MyPlayer is successful for them, there's no way they don't put that shit in MyGM and every other mode they can. Give them an inch and they'll take a mile.

That's kind of the thing I was talking about that I find interesting though is that they have basically just taken the inch now for a while and the ruin one mode in all these sports games with microtransactions. There hasn't been any indication of it really affecting other modes, including MyGM. It ruins the mode, but the total package is there still and fine.

Of course it's there in other games and stuff, but I find it interesting how much sports games just stick it in one or two modes. Kind of crazy how if you're a franchise mode guy you don't even give a shit about any of this probably. It's pretty crazy how even in this one game your experience with that can differ so much. It also makes it feel even more artificial and bullshit in ways too.

Watching Alex and Vinny play, I love that they are playing through Hernan Gomez like he is the Zinger lol. But he was cash in the first half.

I only tried playing this series (or any modern sport simulation) with 2k14. It's a bit comforting to hear Alex say this is the most complex series of these games in terms of what the player is being asked to do. That probably explains why I was so terrible at it lol. Part of me still wants to get into this series though.

It's really tough and basketball is hard to play in that you can do a lot of different things at any time. Certain players are only good at certain things though.

I play a ton so I am used to it but the controls are probably the toughest out there for sports games. I still fuck things up and there are certain moves I don't have down. There are like seriously 5 different ways to pass this year (maybe even more). But in this year especially the level of control you can reach makes it extremely rewarding when you pull things off. The animations are more responsive than ever and it feels great.

But the answer is the other modes.

Jim Sterling thinks the answer is not buying fee to pay games from these scum suckers, and I'm inclined to agree.

The other modes are great. I am going to play the game for 300 hours and it's the best option on the market for sure. I do get how some people feel that way. I just will not spend the money and will probably avoid the mode more. I already love the MyGM and Franchise most and that stuff is great and not fucked with.

I do think it's crazy how in sports games there is this kind of thing going on. It basically infects one mode of a game. Some people don't care, some modes handle it well enough, but it's there in some mode. It's usually the card based stuff in FIFA or Madden but with 2K they have always had it be the career mode as it's gone on. It's a shitty experience I think and I basically like all those modes in a vacuum but with the transactions it ruins it. I actually love the idea of building a team via a deck but I won't even bother with that shit.

Also one thing about the commentary is yeah it isn't as deep with each one, but there are a bunch of people that do the third chair, even recently retired players like KG, which is pretty awesome.

Also as a big 2K fan who has already put a lot of time into this year: basically everything is better. The gameplay is a lot improved, and their animation work is really amazing technically with how smooth it is. That is a huge difference from last year that to miss you really have to have not played 2K17 in a while.

It won't come across how big of an impact it makes until you play, but you can really pull off intricate moves and little adjustments in control now with quick or skilled players that are really fun. A good post scorer now for example can really do a lot with fakes and use different angles and length to go around defenders.

But the MyCareer mode is basically ruined with microtransactions at the moment. Like I said in my other post, I think being a big man helps so much but it still sucks. There are bits of it that are actually better (like the player upgrade system is so much better than the old games where they bundled stats together).

That part has become so annoying. I used to excuse the little issues with it but this year, how they even make you pay more than a 1k cost for a fucking haircut, it's off the rails.

But the answer is the other modes. The MyGM mode is fantastic with the new additions and the regular old franchise is the best in sports games. The thing is you can even play with PlayerLock on so it is that type of one player experience if you want.
