We’ll keep drip feeding this as we go; Shawn is hard at work uploading it all. We’re trying not to overwhelm the feeds, so we’ll be doing it bit by bit. We’ll also be adding things like emotes, and maybe making use of other member specific features.
What about site premium features?
What a great question. I’ve been working personally for hours on end to make it so if you have a YouTube membership, you can access site premium features too. This will involve linking your YouTube account to the site; I am arm wrestling Google support, trying to get them to help me with a few blockers I’m dealing with.
It’s one of those rare instances of programming something fairly unique, meaning there isn’t a ton of support out there for what I’m trying to do. So I have support tickets open (we had to pay to even get them to look at us) and I’m hoping we can get this unlocked and working in the coming weeks.
I will keep you updated, I’m trying my dangdest. If any of y’all have a Google hook up that can fast track me, hit me up!
What’s the best way to support the site?
Folks ask us a lot: is watching on Twitch, YouTube, or the site better? Is subscribing on YouTube or the site the best way to support you?
Telling your friends about Giant Bomb, and sharing our dipshit clips with them, is one of the best ways you can support us. As for where you subscribe, if you don’t care about YouTube features, subscribing via the website gets us the best mileage - and there’s a ton of value in having platform independence. But we also understand creature comforts, so if YouTube works best for you, we’re trying to meet you there.
As for where to watch, our livestreams on Twitch and YouTube are obviously good for us since they run ads, but watch us where you’re comfortable doing so. And if you love site chat, let’s keep working on it and improving it as we go.
