I was going to go on HOME today for the 1st time since it went public... and it told me I have too update. So I said nevermind, im not wasting my time. Is is still as useless as before, have they added anything usefull? or is it still a e-rapist haven?
PlayStation Home
Game » consists of 1 releases. Released Dec 11, 2008
PlayStation Home was a social games network where PSN users could play games and socialize. Home saw a refocus in Fall 2011 in North America and Europe that put more emphasis on games than social spaces.
Is HOME still failing hard?
there are things added to it but certain people like it and others dont... most of the "e-rapist" stuff has ended..
"Jecrell said:and the $ there getting from all the adds + people buying clothes etc..."ahh all the money Sony spent on PlayStation Home would have been better spent on exclusives to make their console less irrelevant."
Well, to be fair to Sony it doesn't look like they spent that much money on Home."
"why would anyone buy the clothes anyway"if you walk around you will see alot of people with clothes that you buy...

It may be a huge success for Sony (They announced they gained $1mill only a couple weeks after release) but it's a huge failure for anyone that's in their right mind.
The only worthwhile things to do is the meta games, but they don't have the addictive replayability that meta/arcade games should have. You play it once and you're done with it. The Redbull races is decent, but like I said, very old after only a couple times of playing it.
"Ha ha! Sony has been promoting this damn thing since E3 07, and now look at it."Ha! You get so much nothing from that statement! Ha!
yeah it still sucks its still a useless laggy, takes forever to load up, and is all around shitty theres no reason to install, and load a new applet just to play games that you could just load into all ready and in less time, and every time you get on home you have to update it seems and redownload areas.
People, remember its FREE. Its not like your loosing that much. Its an addition; some will like it and some won't. I think Home has some good elements to it (like playing simple games with other people like cards and pool) but I would like to see a version without the avatars and second life elements.

"Death is free. That means im not losing that much. And to bad i have to fucking wait to play half those games.

Home is a bad, even for a "game". It was kinda fun when you meet interesting people and play a game of chess or try to exploit glitches or try to convince people that Gears of War 2 is coming to the PS3 but that got old after a day or two.
Home's going to be very cool in about a year, I think. It's already growing pretty fast, it's just not as feature-rich as it needs to be for anyone to consider it particularly useful. Eventually, I think most PS3 owners will put it to use, if only for game launching and forming groups.
To me Home is nothing more than a marketing tool. They are just trying to make money on microtransactions and selling ad space. Nothing more. At some point they might have had a grand plan in mind but it's obvious from the years in development that that got lost somewhere along the way. In its current form it is nowhere near the revolutionary social experience which they promised. In its current state it's an interesting novelty to look at but nothing more.

People were all "omFg HoAm WiLL CRusHEFSDIOH DA XBAX PLZFIXMEH AnD B Da Best EVAR!!!!" when unfortunately it got overshadowed by traditional menus...
Actually Homes completely full whenever i leap on it, the new game spaces are pretty awesome, they hold trasure hunts throughout various locations and people who find the codes and enter them in home win games and psp's and what not, people still meet up just to chat and stuff, and with more SF$ and resi 5 stuff being added within the month, Homes actully doing alright!, seeing as its never empty i would hardly call it s failure, as long as people are on those servers -in sony's eyes its mission accomplished.

Home is O.K. It's not the best because it's still the Beta. They still have to release a lot of stuff for it, like the different environments and game rooms and stuff. When all of that comes out, I'm sure it'll be better. I think it's useful for meeting new people to play games with mainly because my PSN friend list is so very small. It can be a bit, let's say, inappropriate at times, but I'm sure that'll get old quickly and turn into what Sony wants it to be.
I think Home could be wonderful somewhere down the track but it was a mistake to a) announce it so early and b) launch it with nothing in it.
"Hey, what do you think of my new restaurant?"
"Looks nice. I think I'll have pizza."
"Well, thing about that is, we haven't got any food yet. But just you wait!"
