Sony's PlayStation 2 is the second home video game console produced by Sony Computer Entertainment Incorporated, and to date is the best-selling home console of all time, with an install base of 150 million units since its launch.
Ways to play overseas games on newest PS2?
" @FluxWaveZ: True, but you have two change disks twice as much, if not more, with the two phase boot, as with a normal console without Swap Magic, and that is hazardous by itself i think. That's what i was talking about. "Not really, unless you're pulling/pushing hard on your discs or something. You only need to turn on your console once since it's a swap and, like I said previously, actually removing the Swap Magic disc to insert your backup does absolutely no damage to the hardware as there's no disc reading activity going on during the moments of the swap.

And how is the block applied to the three sensors?

And how is the block applied to the three sensors? "The sensors are blocked by how the Flip-Top is shaped. You don't need a Flip-Top to block the sensors, as this video demonstrates, but it just makes it easier:
Just get a mod chip from someone who knows their stuff and not worry about it ever again - I've had a chipped PS2 for years and it's worked fine. It shouldn't be hard to fine one in your area; I found one in WA easily enough, so it should be straightforward in any other state unless you live in a remote region.
" I'd say getting it chipped is way easier. I wonder what happens with multi disc games? That would be an annoyance... Also, if you get an overseas PS2, you'll need a transformer, not just an adapter, since we have totally different voltages. "seriously? what a hassle, i'd imagine :\

Yeah, but who wouldn't want a transformer? Robots in disguise!
On a serious note, this only really applies to large appliances/electronics. Smaller handheld stuff is mostly fine, cause they can take any voltage, so an adapter will do. Probably cause you can bring them with you when you go overseas.
" @Shirogane: The problem with mod chips is the soldering of stuff and everything, is there a simpler method? Also, having someone else do it is less than idea. "
What's the problem with having someone else do it?
From what i've read, you havn't bought it yet, so how about buying a pre-chipped one?
I was planning on getting it brand new though, but where could I get one pre-chipped?" @NekuSakuraba said:

Here's one place, there's others, but this is the only one i can think of off the top of my head.

You could ask, it probably does come in the box, there's no point in them throwing away the box and giving you another new one from them.
They have actual stores, somewhere on the site you can get that info.
So I have just ordered my pre-modified Playstation 2!
Link! :D
Thank you guys so much for the help! Every single one of you. ^__^
" Whoah, fast. Kinda like how i ended up buying my DS Lite i guess... Well, have fun with it. "Well, it was pretty much ideal for me.
Especially because the store isn't even that far away from me.
question: if PS3 is region free, can you play imported PS2 games on a 60gb original PS3 with backwards compatibility?
