The P-47 Thunderbolt was the largest and heaviest fighter using a single piston engine. It was armed with eight .50 caliber machine guns, four on each wing, and could carry 5in rockets or 2,500 pounds in bombs. It was one of the main fighters used by the USAAF during WW2, and was also used by France, the UK, the USSR, Mexico, and Brazil.
