At the age of 10 she was already breaking par.Natalie is of Latvian descent, with her last name "Gulbis" meaning swan in her native language.
Gulbis played in her first LPGA tour as an amateur when she was just 14 years old. She attended Granite Bay High School and graduated when she was 16 years old. She played for one season on the women's golf team at the University of Arizona before turning professional.
