Nagano ' 98 is sluggish and very unplayable
Nagano '98 is a game created by Konami to coincide with the Olympics being held in 1998. From the start up of the game, and the presentation, along with the pretty good music and menu options, this game is looking pretty good. There are 12 different events to choose from, which is quite a bit, and looks even better, but this game pretty much sucks.
First off you choose your Country, then it throws you into one of the events. Most of the events in this game are very unplayable and are very sluggish with choppy graphics making it not fun to play at all. Firstly, when you go to start downhill skiing, your getting pretty pumped with your adrenaline going as the countdown starts, then your presented with the worst polygonal graphics, and bad controls, as well as all around bad gameplay and camera to ruin it for you. The luge, bobsleding, and as well skating all look and play just as bad too. Curling can be tolerable when your playing with 4 friends and drinking, but still becomes awful after a while.
The game as a whole looks bad, and plays like crap and seems like the development team just put it together in a weekend or so. This game probably wouldn' t even justify paying $1 for. The game seems like a good package at the start while bringing a lot to the table, but fails miserably to deliver in the end, and I would never recommend this to anyone, maybe 8 and under, because I seemed to enjoy this game thoroughly when i was a kid. Playing this game now is a bad experience and a waste of time.
While the N64 version looking 'slightly' better, and plays 5% less janky, but still a very bad game. But, if you were to choose the version if you were going to play this game, definitely go with the N64 version.
