Celebrimbor was an elf of Eregion during the Second Age of Middle-earth. He forged the rings of power after being deceived by Sauron. After learning the truth, Celebrimbor defied Sauron and was later captured, tortured, and killed for refusing to reveal where he had hidden the rings.

He became one of Sauron's three Black Captains, representing the Dark Lord's physical might.
