    Through the ex-convict Tychus Findlay, the Foundation commissions Jim Raynor to acquire a series of Xel'Naga fragments. It is not clear as to why, only that they pay top credit for each piece found.  It turn out that the relic is capable of wiping out any zerg in the vicinity of its blastwave. The Queen of Blades Kerrigan is quick to launch attacks on the Foundation to prevent the assembling of the relic, including the main archives where the locations of the fragments are stored.
     
    The heir of the Terran Dominion, and son of Arcturus Mengsk, Valerian Mengsk is revealed to be the owner of the foundation.
