    In Final Fantasy IV, Mist is a remote mountain village where summoners live. Rydia is one of the inhabitants.

    Mist plays a major part in the opening few hours of the game, as Cecil Harvey, the protagonist, and Kain Highwind are ordered by the King of Baron to deliver a ring to the village, unaware of its power. Upon arrival, the ring releases a number of bombs that destroy Mist and kills everyone except for one survivor, Rydia. This series of events cause Cecil and Kain to decide to rebel against the king.
     
    After Mist is ruined, the pair meet Rydia, whose mother has just died. Out of anger, the young girl summons Titan, an earth summon, that separates Cecil and Kain.
