Son of The Commodore, brother of Phoebe Dickens and nephew of Charlotte Dickens-Johnson. Max grew up with aspirations to be a world renowned actor, much to his father's disapproval. Instead he chose to embrace his calling as a detective, following in his father's footsteps in the Dickens Detective Agency to win his father's approval, hoping that he would one day accept Max's dream occupation and meanwhile gain valuable experience for his acting career. Much like his father he is quite a gourmand (but unlike his father he eats more than pudding), and he also takes after his father as a detective, having learnt a lot from working beside him for many years. Max is known to make inappropriate jokes at inappropriate times and does so several times during the cutscenes in the game.
