Does anyone, those that are frequent pc gamers, remember when Lead & Gold was first announced. How it was a western?! How it had kind of the same art style as TF2?! How it was third person?! how it seemed like a cool little game designed specifically for the weary in mind?! You know the weary, those tired of putting in hundreds of hours into said games such as: TF2, CODMW2, COD4, BFBC2, DODS, CSS (ok maybe DODS, was just me). Anyways, do you remember how poorly it was reviewed? How the community was outraged at the lack of dedicated servers? (also see debacle with CODMW2). Basically how the community chewed it up and spit it back out?!
Do you?
'Cause I sure as hell do. Because I couldn't remember another time the backlash of the gaming community turned me off of a game...shit I bought F.E.A.R: Peresus Mandate (that was an awful game)
Anyways, fast forward to the past weekend during the free weekend that allowed people to play Lead & Gold and Shattered Horizons. And all I have to say is, if you have lans with your buddies, or have enough buddies to all get on the pc and play an online game together. Pick this up. When the others become insanely boring, pop it in a play. You won't regret it.

That game you were wrong in assuming it was a piece of shit...

I don't think that anybody was encouraging you to buy Perseus Mandate over this, given that Perseus was panned and Lead and Gold was reasonably warmly recieved.
Anyway, I don't think that this will replace CS, because I'm playing CS:S right now and not feeling any urge to move to another game.
But I'm glad that you like it! Its always nice to find your game that you can always go back to. Mine is CS.
" I played it at launch and also a couple of months back, my biggest issue with it was that there didn't appear to be a server under 300 ping. Has that been resolved now? "They hadn't rolled out dedicated servers at launch, so that was a problem. I believe that this has been done since.
Haha. I wasn't trying to say I opted for Peresus Mandate over Lead & Gold, just highlighting that in the case of Peresus Mandate, I didn't listen to the community and bought an awful game. Looking through STEAM, however, I still feel there a lot of people on the forums over there that don't appreciate the game for what it is. I was never a big CS:S dude and I still love DOD:S, but none of my friends enjoy it. So i'm glad I've found a game all of us can enjoy, especially at lans.
@Geno: There are in fact dedicated servers. What I like about their server browser is that they distinguish between P2P and dedicated via a color, grey and blue respectively.
When it had it's free weekend thing I couldn't connect to a single server and there were two servers beneath 100 ping which I couldn't connect to either and I thought the server browser in general felt incomplete. Besides, I have TF2 and Call of Duty if I wanna play online and if I crave for a western experience I'll play RDR. I want to be able to appreciate Lead and Gold but from the time I spent trying to find a server that worked I can only say that it seems like a pile of shit.
I picked it up after the weekend. incredibly fun, sublimely balanced game. I daresay I enjoy it more then TF2. I was put off initially for the lack of persistence, but it is so goddamn fun that it doesn't matter.
But it's distressing to be raring for a quick game only to find there are no decent servers available.

"Jesus every fucking time I see you, you somehow work a little CS d-ride into your post, seriously, we can all see your avatar, that should be enough, nobody cares that you're still playing an ugly old overrated pile of crap FPS.
OT, L&G is reasonably fun. That is all. I have way more than enough mp games at the moment to ever consider playing L&G but it's definitely solid.
Its true, I've been on a serious CS bender for the last month or so." @nintendoeats said:

But it does stay relevant. In this case, the OP specificly mentioned CS in his post as something that L&G could be a replacement for. I was specificly commenting on that.
Further, CoD multiplayer has been a big topic recently, and so multiplayer shooting in general has come up alot. This has given me reason to compare things to CS.
@Akrid: All I have to say is I agree.
@Jack268: I will give you that L&G isn't the best, and there aren't many servers, but I can always find one with ping lower than 100, and in general my friends will p2p it when we're too busy to have lans. However, with that said I COD and TF2 both kind of bore me now...and I won't get the new Call of Duty until december when finals are over. I have RDR, but my xbox is shit so I can't play it.
And with all that I was really hoping some people would post about games they consider guilty pleasures because none of your friends like them. Say for me, other than L&G, DoD:S...all the stalker games and cryostasis fall under that realm.
Jurassic Park: Trespasser. Yes its terrible, but its also kind of genius in its own way.
Rise To Honor. It drags in bits, but it really does its theme justice. Very few people like this game as much as me.
Iji. Its free, go play it god damn you. Some people just cannot get into it, but I love it.
