Unlike many other NPB licenced video games, Kodawari Saihai Simulation: Ocha no ma Pro Yakyuu DS doesn't have the player directly interact with the baseball action. The user can choose pitches, where the pitch goes, if the runner wants to steal or not, and what the batters decision at the plate is (Swing, Bunt, watch ball go by etc.). Besides these things, players can't control base running, swing placement/timing, or where/how to throw/field a ball. These things the player can not do makes the game a lot more unique compared to other NPB games, but it is still an enjoyable expierence.
