Abstergo Industries is a multinational pharmaceutical corporation worth billions of dollars. Secretly, they are the modern public face of the conspiracy started hundreds of years ago by the Knights Templar, and seek to enslave all of humanity.
The Brotherhood of Assassins is a secret society that has existed for almost a thousand years, and which fights from the shadows against the Templar Order to protect mankind's free will.
Brought to Al-Khali by the disfigured Bishop Maltheus St. Claire, their innocence were meant to protect them against the Saracen "Infidels". Instead they were massacred, and their souls now linger in eternal damnation within the walls of Jericho.
Games that promote or contain Christian themes.
Christianity is a religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus. It is also the largest religion in the world.
Plotting and scheming, usually for wealth or power.
Either a force of over arching evil or a parody of the real world. The corporation is a common concept found in Video Games.
Law makers and fat cats who will sell the population down the river just to gain more power and money.
The head of a group of devout people who follow their crazy beliefs. Can often be dangerous.
Cults don't necessarily have to be evil or out to destroy the world, but in video games it's usually safe to assume so.
Genocide refers to killing on massive scale, often systematic and for political or religous reasons.
A state of mind in which a person (usually a leader or dictator) genuinely believes that they are a powerful god.
Henchmen are the loyal grunts caught in between the player and the main antagonist. Without them every game would be nothing more than a boss battle.
Islam is a monotheistic religion articulated by the Qur'an. A text considered by its adherents to be the word of God given to Muhammad, considered by the Muslims to be the last prophet of God.
A heavily armored soldier in the service of a lord or cause. Typically a champion of good and a defender of the innocent.
Misanthropy is the hatred and fear of human beings and humanity in general.
A gathering of people who believe in the same higher power(s), and follow the rules laid out by the mortals chosen to be their prophets. Video games generally try to shy away from negatively portraying real religions to avoid controversy, however they make ample use of fictional in-game religions.
The Crusades were a series of Medieval wars waged by European Christian armies under the authority of the Pope against Islamic nations in the Holy Land. They lasted several centuries and are featured in numerous games.
War is a series of organized conflicts carried on by force of arms between two or more nations or groups. Whether it never changes or has already changed is up for debate.
Knights in white or shiny silver armor. The term "White Knight" is often used to denote an exceptionally noble or chivalrous individual, synonymous with the similar descriptor of "Knight in Shining Armor". Despite this, not all White Knights in fiction are heroes...
