I get that "Xrd" is meant to make this a sequel of sorts to "XX," but why is -SIGN- in the title? Is it meant to be a modifier of some kind to an original title that was just "GG Xrd" like an arcade version or something? Or is there some meaning behind using the word -SIGN- that is just lost on me? I'm inclined to think that you're not even supposed to pronounce -SIGN-, like it's a text version of the Prince symbol. Any other theories?

They'll probably replace the ~SIGN~ several months from now when they come out with an updated version.

Yeah it sucks. But I pronounce it like you'd normally pronounce "sign", though I almost always just say Guilty Gear Xrd / GGXrd.

Pretty much this. They did this every time they released an updated version of XX as well. Between 2003 and 2012, they used the subtitles #Reload, Slash, Accent Core, Accent Core Plus and Accent Core Plus R to differentiate between all the different versions. BlazBlue had some good engrish titles too. Capcom did the same thing with Street Fighter by slapping Super, Turbo and Ultra on their titles.

I dunno, that GGXX #RELOAD predates hashtags (outside of IRC channel usage), I wonder if either -SIGN- is prophetic or hip to some Japanese net-slang unknown to me. Or more likely would be a Japanese interpretation of American net verbiage. Maybe we should be writing words like -THIS-.
