The Best GTA Protagonist? [6 year old thread]

I really don't think CJ ever gets enough credit. He was cool, I liked him. Still, I think I'd rank him third before Niko Bellic and Tommy Vercetti. I'm giving my vote to Niko here, though he's more fleshed out than any of them, so this almost doesn't seem like a fair poll to me.
This is a tough call. I voted for Tommy Vercetti though because of my undying love for Vice City. Niko is a close second, though.
I really liked Johnny Klebitz. Definitely my favourite GTAIV protagonist. From the GTAIII era, it would most likely go to Vercetti. <3 Ray Liotta.
I set them apart because of how much different the previous ones where to the latter. The first so many were all cartoony archetypes that had personality, but were still pretty horrible people who were your vessels for mindless destruction. GTAIV gave you leads who were much more human than any character in the GTA verse before.
I'm going for either Niko Bellic, or Johnny Klebitz. Johnny epitomizes everything Grand Theft Auto is about. He's wild, dangerous, and someone with no respect for authority. He is the perfect symbol of the Grand Theft Auto world in that sense, but he's not as fleshed out as Niko. Niko Bellic wins this due to the fact his motives were always very clear and he was a human, believable protagonist who reacted suitably to actions around him.
" @TheGreatGuero: Niko may be more fleshed out, but he is still the most boring protagonist in my eyes. Even a mute (claude) has more flair. "No way, dude. Well, I found Niko to be a very interesting character, but I also think GTAIV is the best game of this gen, and you probably don't.
I've played all the GTA games except the expansions to 4 and CJ is the only character I actually kinda liked.
" It's a toss-up between Claude and Tommy Vercetti. CJ's character was always the least interesting character in that game. Frankly I probably would have preferred playing Ceaser. Niko is the most developed character, but he controls oddly. I'm gonna go with Claude though. "I don't understand. Claude is a non-entity, that'd be like choosing a chair or a car.
" Vercetti has to be my favorite by far.Dude, yes. That's one of the most memorable parts of Vice City for me because it was just bizarre how he said it.
"HMM.. NICE BIKE!" "
I'm gonna have to go with John Marston. Yeah, that's right.
Tommy Vercetti - His characterization completely avoided the problem common to most recent GTA protagonists in trying to paint them as decent guys while having them act as utter sociopathic murderous monsters in the missions.
Tommy vercetti I don't see how this could possibly even be a discussion.
Tommy atleast knew he was scum, and he accepted it. Instead of these people like Niko having grandiose speeches about the horrors of war and then 15 min later brutally murders a schoolbus full of blonde christian children.
" @Bones8677 said:And it's because of that that made GTA3 so great. He had so little character that the player had such an easy time embedding themselves into that role. Claude was the perfect avatar for players. He had no name, and no voice and he looked so generic that anyone could identify with him, and truly believe that they are the ones in the world rather than controlling some talking named dude." It's a toss-up between Claude and Tommy Vercetti. "
I: None of the Above.
Without looking at the list I tried to think of one of them and I couldn't remember a dam thing about anyone of them besides Nico. And that was just because he was so dam annoying. I played all the games and non of them were memorable or likable in any shape way or form. I hope with then ext one they take a lesson from Saints Row and just let you make your own main character. I want a female lead for once, as I hate playing male characters in games.
