Grand Theft Auto
Grand Theft Auto is a sandbox-violence game, that has drawn attention all over the world, and has pretty much become one of the most noticeable criminal-sandbox franchises ever.
Best GTA Game
Vice City obviously, because it evolved the most from III, and has the best music.
anyone think otherwise?
San Andreas because it was just more fun than all of them. I still pop it in just to fuck around for an hour or three. It also had the best music. Not so much the chat stations, but the music was better.
GTA IV is really important to me. Of the older ones I would take GTA III, because I prefer Liberty City to the other locations.
Grand theft auto 4 hands down. I simply enjoyed Niko more as a character than the other protagonists. Plus I loved Roman and his "titties".
Red dead redemption....
oh wait no....GTA 4 is the only GTA I finished and didn't lose interest after a couple of hours....
San Andreas - It is the largest, has more to do in the world than any other, the controls are the best in the series (flame me if you want but the driving is borked in 4 and I don't like how they removed the targeting system from San Andreas), the characters are the best in the series, and open world GTA games hadn't been as overdone yet.
Edit : The soundtrack isn't the best, yet it is still better than the 80's pop-trash from Vice City. It doesn't really matter much anyways because after ten hours of playtime I turn off the sound in every GTA so I can listen to my own music.
GTA III because I would come home from school and for hours I would go on killing sprees until I had the army chasing me. Then I would run to a corner pull out the all weapons and ammo cheats and try to kill them all. I would go to this one part of the city that you could crash into a fence and make your car do multiple backflips. I have grown tired of all GTA's since.
Vice City, have yet to play another GTA that has been superior, in my mind (although Red Dead Redemption is my favorite Rockstar game overall).
" Anyone who says something other than Vice City is wrong.Yeah but Scarface is a bad movie so by association a Scarface game would also be bad. And a Scarface inspired game would be badder.
It's like Carlito's way/Scarface the game.
Edit: It's also better than the actual Scarface game. "
Vice City had the best music for sure, and was probably my favorite game of the PS2 GTAs. That said, I think 4 was my favorite overall, the more serious tone and improved controls made it a revelation for me when it came out.
" @HandsomeDead said:smileybomber on his best/worst threads." You're really committed to this idea. "Who's committed to what idea? "
San Andreas for the ease of "role-playing" and the variety (including scenic, musical, mission types, etc...). I respect what Vice City did to improve upon GTA3, but San Andreas was the first to have enough things to do. Also it was the first game I learned how to use the right stick to smoothly control the camera while driving (Xbox then PC versions), which makes wasting time out on country roads listening to music that much more enjoyable.
But Vice City Stories and other R*Leeds GTAs have a LOT of really good improvements that haven't been fully adopted by the big brother GTAs. Hopefully RDR changed R*Norths perception on many of the little aides.
I'd play through them all again if they came out with a "HD collection" with updated controls (including the Stories games). And the controls are a HUGE deal for me.
