Extraterrestrials appear in many video games in a variety of styles. Sometimes they're evil, sometimes they're benevolent, and sometimes they're very similar to humans.
Bipedal Digitigrades stand, walk or run with its toes touching the ground and the rest of its foot lifted, creating a the legs to bow backwards and then forwards, while also standing upright like a human being would. This is popularly seen in anthropomorphic animal characters, aliens or monsters, Werewolves being a prime example. Unguligrades are similar but instead of toes, they have hooves.
A corporate conglomeration acts as a legitimate front and source of funds for the shadowy organization known as Cerberus in the Mass Effect universe. In its quest to ensure human supremacy in the universe, Cerberus has conducted kidnappings, genetic tampering and scientific experimentation bordering on torture.
Collective consciousness is best defined as a group or race of beings possessing no minds of their own, but act and are controlled in service of a greater overall purpose, much like ants. They make great villains!
Term used in first person shooters where most of the game takes place in tight closed quarters.
Typically naval (ocean or space) in nature, a vessel is considered derelict if it is abandoned, damaged, drifting, or otherwise inoperable. While often scavenged through, very rarely are they completely empty.
A hostile artificial intelligence, or "rogue AI", is a synthetic being that has turned on its creators. Among the most famous rogue AIs from video games are SHODAN (System Shock) and GLaDOS (Portal).
Husks are cybernetic, zombified corpses. The Geth create them by impaling human bodies with giant mechanical spikes, known as Dragon's Teeth to experienced Alliance soldiers.
Characters that are initially portrayed as evil, but eventually turn out to be good or not as serious of a threat. This also includes villains who remain evil the entire game, but contain some sense of moral goodness or ambiguity.
A nomadic race of aliens that are adept with technology. They live in fleet of ships known as the flotilla.
If a person is made of metal and has circuitry instead of a circulatory system, then their game belongs on this list.
In the Mass Effect franchise, the Reapers are a hyper-advanced machine race that appear periodically every 50,000 years to bring a close to a "cycle" in which the Reapers harvest all the advanced forms of life.
