Gekko is a colloquial term for security droids with bio-mechanical limbs. Technically they qualify as Metal Gears as they are part of the Nuclear Strategy, used as support units to RAYs. Unlike traditional Metal Gears, Gekkos are not equipped with nukes and unmanned, and as such they can be much smaller.
Given the codename IRVING by the U.S. military and have largely replaced tanks as armored support in war zones especially urban battlefields across the globe. They feature a mix of traditional Metal Gear design (the top) and bio-mechanical legs. These give it a much larger range of motion and agility. However, these legs are not armored like the upper parts, and thus serve as weak spots.
Dwarf Gekko are extremely small black spherical droids with three bio-mechanical arms. In one-on-one confrontations they are only a minor annoyance, but they are designed to swarm and overwhelm the enemy at indoor environments and gather intelligence. The cyborg Mistral used a staff made from Dwarf arms called L'Etranger.
