The Fremen are a group of people in the fictional Dune universe created by Frank Herbert. First appearing in the 1965 novel Dune, the Fremen inhabit the desert planet Arrakis (also known as Dune), which is the sole known source of the all-important spice melange in the universe.

Living in a desert planet, the culture of the Fremen is largely based on that of the Bedouin Arabs, living a nomadic Bedouin lifestyle (along with elements of nomadic Bushmen culture) and practicing a future variant of the Islamic religion (along with elements of Buddhism). In later novels by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, the Fremen religion is variously referred to as "Buddhislam" or "Zensunni", reflecting a hybrid between Islamic religion and Buddhist philosophy in the future of the Dune universe.
