Giant bomb is number one. Who will be my number two?
its not just kotaku, its the entire gawker network. theyre trying the new redesign to encourage more clicks, and are failing...
destructoid.com?
I'm a fan of Joystiq.com. N4G is also worth a quick check every now and again. There is a lot of filler from crap sites like Strenghtgamer.com but you can filter that garbage out.
Joystiq has been my number 2 for years. Though I dont really like that they've added scales to their review. And their reviews in general aren't that great anyway
Giantbomb is enough for me.. not too crazy about getting the latest news immediately
and i use the awesome Gameinformer hubs for games like B3, Skyrim and L.A. Noire
Yes, you should go to destructoid.
Best thing about the internet is that you can't see that I just fell down on the floor laughing so much that I knocked over my PC just because that was the most stupid advice ever given
I kind of like joystiq but is there a way to make their posts into just headlines and a picture or some other way to condense the page?
I don't really like to keep on clicking to find more headlines.
First off, never say never. A few years ago I said I would never need another website then 1up.com, but then all the shit that happened over there happened and now I wouldn't go to the site if my life depended on it.
As for sites, I use these to get all my gaming news since they actually cover PC Games unlike most sites:
- bluesnews.com
- pcgamer.com
I know, a website called PC Gamer covering PC games, who would have guessed? Between them and Giant Bomb I get all the news I need.
I also recommend going to G4 to watch Feedback. Everything else on the site should be avoided, but that show is really good when they have the right hosts; like the newest one they did at PAX East. Though to be honest, the best hosts have all left over the last few months, but it's still got Adam and a couple other great guys keeping the show good.
I also use cbc.ca for world/local news.
Rock, Paper, Shotgun.
There's little overlap between RPS (a PC only site) and Giant Bomb, and between them I feel like I'm pretty much covered. There's some great written content on RPS, though sometimes it gets a bit blinkered and whiny (the comments are often intolerable nowadays). They cover a lot of great stuff that doesn't get much of a look in on the big multi-plat sites, and they don't seem too worried about upsetting the industry, which I approve of.
They don't score their reviews either, which I'm a big fan of because all of the metacritic manipulation going on is filthy and needs to stop.
Joystiq is my choice( might be in the market for a new site after all the bad press coming out of aol) , stopped going to kotaku when they felt the need to force a new design on everyone. (shouldn't have to go to another site just to view it the old way). Could also though in GamesRadar though they do have their issues.
