Whole Lotta Love
Favorite Led Zeppelin Song
Making this list (which is just a generic list from the compilation album Mothership by the way) I'm reminded more and more of how much Zeppelin in Rock Band would rock my world. Too bad Jimmy Page is one of those "kids should pick up a guitar" people. Oh well.
As an aside, my top three songs (no order) are All My Love, Achilles Last Stand and Stairway To Heaven (but of course). How about you? Are you one of the "Stairway is overrated" people??
I don't disagree, I'm just saying that I wish Page was a little more open-minded about the situation. People should definitely pick up a guitar. Though as far as I know, Page is the only one preventing the use of it in Rock Band. Correct? Wrong? It would be so awesome to have it in RB..." @ververdan0226 said:

Yeah but Page has always been protective over his music. Look at what Jack Black had to do just to get one song for a movie:" @Amorfati said:

The opening to 'When the Levee Breaks' makes the hair on my neck stand up. And then it doesn't go back down. Every other song is awesome too, but.. fucking harmonica, dude.
This is a good thread for my Led Zeppelin story. But first I'd like to say, every single one of their songs is awesome.
Here's why I voted Immigrant Song. When I was stationed in Germany, after we returned from Iraq there was a big ceremony in Wurzburg (1st ID headquarters). The point of the ceremony is a dog and pony show, but I was there on the parade field while the generals gave speeches. At the end of the day it's this massive party with a shitload of beer and damn near everyone who attended the ceremony there. There were a few bands there and a rap group. Led Zeppagain was the first band, and I forget the rapper but he was some guy with G-Unit. Led Zepagain is a tribute band and they were damn good. I was incredibly impressed with the lead vocals, Robert Plant is not easy to mimic but this guy did a great job.
Me and my buddy had a great idea to try to get backstage. We were Infantrymen and after an Infantryman serves in actual combat he is rewarded the CIB. (Combat Infantry Badge). Now these things are rewarded to us, but once we get them we have to have them on our uniform, so we had more than just 1 badge, more like 8 or so. Anyways, my buddy had one in his pocket and we told the girl at the backstage entry that we wanted to sit back there and give the band our CIB's.
The girl was funny, she told us her main job was to keep out the people who would try to harass the rappers, and she could easily tell we were there for the Led Zep band. Neither me nor my friend gave a shit about those rappers. She she let us through the gate and there we were - backstage. Now, it was kind of boring back there but there was free booze and food. So I was content. The band was rockin away and they got to the Immigrant Song. That's when they started having people come on stage and dance around like fools while they jammed out. They grabbed up all the backstage people and so now I'm on the stage, in front of a sea of people - most of whom were there to see the rapper.
The part of Immigrant Song, where he sings aaaayaaayaaaaaaaya - lol, it's not easy to mimic. As a matter fact, that Jack Black video above, he sings the part i'm trying to type. So anyways, this is getting to be tl;dr. Let me rush to the end of this story.
The lead vocalist passed the mic around and we all got our chance to yell "aaayaaayaaaaaya" - but instead, my drunk ass decided to yell "Im so druuuuuuuuunk yaa".
I'm not sure what the crowd thought of it, but my buddy and my friends who opted to not go backstage thought I was a celebrity. The band loved me too, although not during that part because he ripped the mic from my hand and said "no, he's not".
I was.
picked whole lotta love
Am I the only one that thinks it is incredibly idiotic for musicians to say pick up a real guitar people play guitar hero and rock band for fun, they dont play it instead of playing an instrument
Oh and another thing kids should stop picking up guitars just listen to all the awful hardcore music now and you'll know why
" No Tangerine? "I couldn't bring myself to choose 20ish songs for the poll so I ended up just listing the songs compiled on their compilation album Mothership.
Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, no second thoughts about it for me.
Also, does anybody else find it funny that Zepp is so protective of their music, considering the amount of plagiarism they have been accused of? I'm not saying this makes their music any less awesome, I mean, Led Zeppelin I is in my top 5 albums of all time. I just find the whole situation a tad funny.

My Favorite is The Rain song but its not up there.... =P
Ill go with over the hills and far away for now , no matter how much stairway kicks ass
" I wanna punch everyone who voted for "Stairway to Heaven". The song is good, but it's easily one of the weakest that Zep has every written. Also...I just realized that your poll is also missing the incredible "Achille's Last Stand". "Nope, it isn't. I even voted for it myself. :D
Dazed and Confused... That is some awesome drum work by Bonzo.
The triplet fill is by far his best showcase yet!
Going to California, then Heartbreaker, then Stairway.
Since Going to California wasn't up there, I just put Heartbreaker.
My own thread makes me realize that I'd kill for a Whiskey music site... yeah Dave Snider, you hear me. What.
Probably not loved by the hardcore Zep fans, but my favorite is this one with Kashmir and Heartbreaker right behind. I didn't vote since my favorite isn't on the list and I've never call anyone a "cunt". This song just makes me happy and I don't know how anyone can listen to it and not feel like dancing.

"Pretty much this... <3 the opening of that song, although more for the way the drums sound. So damn many good songs, though...
