What is your favorite RPG character of all time?
Wrex from Mass Effect
and
Carth Onasi from KOTOR 1
Favorite RPG Character of all time
Neku Sakuraba from The World Ends With You.
While he did start out pretty damn annoying, by the end of the game he was kind of awesome.
Then again, I find most RPG characters to be pretty annoying, so my standards aren't very high.
Hands down Minsc and Boo from Baldur's Gate II. He had that funky "Of Mice and Men" thing going for him.

QUALITY
"Kratos from God of War."I think you mis-read the topic title.
but mine would be Dart from The Legend of Dragoon.
I really liked Celess in FFVI. She was a powerful, strong willed woman, yet at her core had all the traits a woman should, great compassion and a gentle heart. She was one of the most human characters ever to grace the games, and throughout we see her encounter fear, shame, guilt, doubt, yet she always overcomes. I'll never forget the suicide scene, one of the most emotional scenes in any RPG.

I am not to big into RPG's but HK-47 from KOTOR was hilarious, I like characters that can make me laugh from time to time.
Worn out? Listen you talentless, organic meatbag. One word from my master and I'll pull you apart, limb from useless limb!
Man, there are so many. RPGs have the best characters of any genre in my opinion. I think I felt the biggest connection with Neku, he was the most organic character in any JRPG by far. HK-47 is hilarious and Locke (from FF6) is just so incredibly likable. Plus, Wrex is probably the coolest. I can't decide.
For now I have to agree with BoG about Celes. Basically... any of the five or so main characters from Final Fantasy VI. Locke, Terra, Edgar, Sabin, and Celes. Kefka would be one of my favorite villains.
Locke's relationship with Celes and his searching for the Pheonix esper in order to bring Rachel back to life (that particular scene made me cry) and his basic demeanor just makes him a great character.
Terra spent a lot of time conflicted and confused about who/what she is. The way she clung to the people after the breaking really showed how all she really wanted was someone to care for.
Those are the two that stand out the most. Granted, Celes performed the opera scene (one of many scenes the game that brings tears to my eyes... now just hearing the song itself manages that) and the suicide scene (the part with Cid always made me cry too).
You know what... Final Fantasy VI was awesome and is one of the most depressing games ever.
I also need to get this one off my chest... Squall. I like Squall, ok? I'm probably the one person I would most expect to think he is an emo prick douche, but I thought he was a facinating character. He isn't an emo jerk you guys, he's just an introvert!"I think Squall's internal dialog and sheer complexity was a way to balance the large amount of one dimensional characters that were in that game. A lot of people shrug off Squall's actions as emo, I think that for a 17 year old anti social jerk, forced to become the savior of the planet: He seemed to play the part pretty well. In terms of character development he changed quite a lot compared to other RPG characters, or game characters in general by the end of the game.
Cloud will always be my favorite RPG character.
HK-47 is also amazing. I think I'll nominate my Shepard character from Mass Effect.
Oh, and Kefka of course. Because he actually successeded in destroying the world. You might have a god complex Sephiroth, but did you win? At least once? No. Your only accomplishment was to kill a defenseless street peddelar. Oh, bravo! *claps*
And dogmeat from the first Fallout. I beat the game with all NPC's alive thank you very much.

Barret from FFVII is up there as well
In no particular order:
- Deckard Cain (Diablo series)
- Crono (Chrono Trigger)
- Neku Sakuraba (The World Ends With You)
Neku surprised me. I never really had any favorite characters from rpgs outside of Cain and Crono but Neku just really hit the mark with me. His voice actor wasn't over the top and so far (haven't finished WEWY yet) his dialogue hasn't been ridiculous.
Viktor and Humphrey from Suikoden I and II are my all-time favorites. But I've got a bunch of runner-ups, including Cid and Barrett from Final Fantasy VII, Myron from Fallout 2, HK-47 from KOTOR, Georg from Suikoden V, and Erasmus from the Quest for Glory series.
"Optiow said:Master Chief is so much better as an RPG character then Marcus Fenix. If Cloud is the bar, then Fenix probably has too much personality to be any good."Kratos from God of War."
On that note, Marcus Fenix is my favorite RPG character."
"End_Boss said: Master Chief is so much better as an RPG character then Marcus Fenix. If Cloud is the bar, then Fenix probably has too much personality to be any good. Also, this only makes the fantasy I thought up in the IRC even cooler. Imagine - Samus Aran and Marcus Fenix travel back in time with Kratos and his magic time travelling space ship where they meet Kuja who shoots himself in the head, which evokes his persona "Master Chief" who throws a Big Daddy at Samus. And then Master Chief turns out to be a girl, and makes out with Samus."
We're all forgetting the impact CJ Johnson had on RPG's. Not to mention Gordon Freeman. Now if Freeman turned out to be a woman in disguise, made out with Master Chief, Samus, and Ms. Pac-Man? We'd be in RPG heaven.
Dak'kon from Planescape: Torment, Minsc (and Boo!) from Baldur's Gate and Jack from Vampire - The Masquerade: Bloodlines
One of my favorite RPG's is Final Fantasy IX so I'd have to say Zidane, or the mage guy that's in the game as well

"Don't start sentences with 'And' retard."Actually, you can start sentences with "And", especially if what I'm saying is an extension of what someone else is saying. Read the whole thing:
"It's Vivi. You can't forget Vivi, and Vivi was not a side character."
We're not in school anymore. English rules can be bent, and some broken. It's something anyone good at writing understands.

Mission Vao, the optimistic teenage twi'lek from KOTOR.
I really felt horrible after having her killed by the wookie during my second run-through of the game.
