Farewell, Patrick! Thanks For Everything! We'll Miss You!

If you haven't already heard, there's a big bombshell dropped in today's (Day 5) GOTY Bombcast (at around 4h6m) that intrepid newsman Patrick Klepek is departing Giant Bomb to do I don't know what. Let's all wish him well on whatever he's doing in the future and show our appreciation for all he's done during his time here.

Huh. Makes sense considering that he lives far away from everyone else. He just started building an office with the Cards Against Humanity guys so maybe he got a job there?

Thanks for everything, Patrick! I've enjoyed being able to talk to you at the various PAX events and meetups about stuff, even if I rarely have much to say. You put out too much awesome content and feature on too many panels with great people at PAXes to have that happen.

I got a great moment with Patrick and his wife this past PAX East and he was approachable, engaging, and passionate. I'll miss having him around on my favorite site and I hope he gets bigger and better scoops wherever he goes.

This is devastating news. Patrick was one of the best things to happen to the site and is one of my favourite people covering games today. He's thoughtful, always seemed to be very nice to the people he spoke to, and brought us a huge quantity of really engrossing video content and articles on here. It was great to see him bring such a love of horror games and obscurer indie titles to the site and his coverage of and support for diversity in the gaming and game development community has been a really positive thing. I'm going to miss him a lot but I wish him the best of luck with whatever he does in the future.

Despite kind of seeing it coming, I'm still pretty shocked by this, if that makes any sense at all. Huge bummer. Whether people realize it or not, Patrick provided something to Giant Bomb that it didn't have before and that it will sorely miss without him.
