    The float stone is a mysterious artifact that the Light Warriors use to unlock an ancient airship. The float stone is notable as it offers a rare explanation for the operation of a final fantasy airship. Subsequent final fantasy games have only suggested a method of operation through their design; in Final Fantasy IV and IX they appear magical as in the the first game, Setzer's airship in final fantasy IV appears to be a dirigible, and high tech settings imply the use of vertical turbine thrusters to provide lift while airships remain stationary.
