many many many sports fans play sports fans play sports video games AND play sports OUTSIDE..many professional athletes play the current Madden or NBA Live or FIFA or MLB game...there is a good reason for having sports video games- because they make a lot of money every year...non-sports gamers don't have top put down sports gamers...I know all four of the main staff at Giantbomb don't play sports but come on! you can pretend you're Samus Aran or Zelda or Mario and play outside too. I've seen extreme nerds do it. You can save Hyrule outside too or pretend you're jumping over hot lava like you're mario outside too. If we're going to make generalizations, more sports gamers are probably in shape than RPG players
soccer hasn't been on major TV long enough for it to get any ratings at all..it needs a TV deal to get sports fans hooked on soccer. I bet soccer in USA is just as popular as hockey, and is shown about as much on TV on American channels, which is darn near never
