A 1994 role-playing game starring a young boy named Ness on his quest to save the world. The game and its quirky humor have garnered a dedicated cult following among RPG fans.
I just finished it a couple weeks ago. It holds up,but it's the kind of game now where you'll either enjoy it or hate it like nobody's business. I recommend playing Mother 3 (if you aren't against using an emulator and rom seeing as that's the only way to play in English) too/instead. It's got the same style of play, but more updated and modern.
Depends on what you mean by "playable." The gameply is solid JRPG fare, but as for the plot and dialogue, that depends on how much room for whimsy you have. If you're the jaded, serious type then it may not appeal to you. If you're in the mood for something light, it absolutely still works.
