[snip] Wii controls for FPS games are janky as hell [snip]
What? Compared to what?
There's a reason devs have to implement 10 different kinds of auto-aims into their console FPS' for dual analog. Because it's by far the worst control scheme for shooters...
And with the arrival of the ps3-wiimote, "Wii controls" will probably be the standard for first/third person shooters very soon, unless they come to their senses and finally let you use keyboard+mouse (please...). :)
it's not autoaim, it's sensitivity- how fast the reticle moves when you move the joystick. Some console games don't use auto aim at all: halo CE, shadowrun, and PC centric ports like UT and Quake come to mind." @bcjohnnie said:

Play a wiimote game...I know the move is supposed to be better but since the editors have been saying there's some "BAM! It's there" going on it's not exactly ideal for precision shooters either. Maybe in the future when they get better, but I'd still prefer dual analog- much like people still like keyboard/mouse when that's no longer the dominant control method.
edit- By far the best thing I think they could to is to replace the right analog with a trackball- it has the most precision out of any control method after one gets used to it, and sens doesn't really matter because trackballs are so accurate in terms of distance.
Hopefully anyone who posted stuff on this is reading all of the entries again (that might have answered the Q: ), as the wheelchair is an ongoing thing that came withthe house. Suprised that many people didn't catch that first video of Ryan scouting the house. Jeff's not hurt as it's just a chair that you can easily race in compared to stupid office chairs with wheels.
Curious to see what tonite's podcast going to be & better yet who else will be there.
O about your Daniel Craig comment, I am sure there are legal reasons as to way they had to have Craig in the game instead of Pierce Brosnan
They're really at a Catch 22 when it comes to Goldeneye though. If they update it, then it's just not Goldeneye, but if they don't update it, then it's a janky and outadated game to play in 2010.
I remember being blown away as a kid when I could stand still and aim with the analogue stick (Remember, we'd only played Turok on the N64 before that).
Today, the fact that you'd HAVE to stand still to aim would be preposterous.
" @Lethkhar: I think Jeff has a pretty good point, especially considering the way Nintendo announced this game, with that stupid "focus group" video of kids talking about how much they love Goldeneye. No matter how much nostalgia you have for that game, shooters have gotten better since then, and this is not the revelation it once was. Plus, it's not made by the same people, Wii controls for FPS games are janky as hell, and putting a Daniel Craig model in this game is fucking retarded. I get that people who loved that game over 10 years ago are kind of jazzed about this, but maybe they should instead put their energy into making a new Bond game that people can stand, with the same core elements that people loved about Goldeneye, instead of another goddamn rehash (which seems to be what Nintendo excels at). "I think you misunderstood me; I don't think the new Goldeneye will be any good. Like you said; it's by a different developer, and the Wii sucks. I'm just saying that ripping on the original Goldeneye as a reason for this game being bad when there are so many other things that are clearly wrong with it is downright uncalled for and embarrassing for a game critic.
I mean, why doesn't this "older game means it's not as fun" mentality apply to other games? Isn't Jeff's favorite game, like, some random arcade game from the 80's? Hell, I still pull out the original Doom every once and awhile. A rehashed Goldeneye is a stupid idea simply because the original is such a great game in its own right.
